USB 2.0 external hard drives30 Oct 2007 13:53 GMT2
Are all USB 2.0 connected external hard drives that much slower than a
similar Firewire 400 connected drive? It seems that based on what my
friend's setup did.
Recently I was helping a friend with a MBPro and he'd bought a USB 2.0
battery backup units29 Oct 2007 20:50 GMT4
I just bought my first-ever battery backup unit (an APC brand 750A
model). The inspection sheet taped to it is dated 11-17-05. Is this
normal? Is the battery as good as new when it's been sitting on a shelf
for two years? (One terminal needed to be connected by me, the consumer,
iMac display29 Oct 2007 15:07 GMT18
My new 20-inch iMac arrived on Tuesday, and there is a definite problem
with the display. I had wondered if it was an issue with all machines,
but I checked one in a store, and wasn't able to reproduce the problem.
Obivously I can (and will) contact AppleCare. I hope I won't have to

Samsung 245BW on G5 with Radeon 9800 Pro27 Oct 2007 13:23 GMT2
I just got this tonight.  I figured, I bought the optional higher end
video card, no problem driving this monitor.
Well.
At full rez (1920x1200@60Hz), I get a lot of flickering.  At the next
Repair memory card with images25 Oct 2007 04:32 GMT2
I have a memory card here I just am not able to read.  I took pictures
and they looked right in the camera, but when I connect it to my card
reader (connected to my 10.4 ibook), it said the drive needed to be
formated.  Confused, I ejected it and tried it back on the camera.  ...
Mouse/Keyboard Dilemma24 Oct 2007 05:12 GMT4
A bit more than a year ago, I bought a replacement Apple keyboard for my
Quicksilver because the U, J, and M keys failed.  Last week, I ordered a
new mouse because it was not tracking properly, seemed to freeze
occasionally, and I suspected a short or a frayed cord.  It has not ...
Epson Stylus CX5400 ‹ Tiger Compatable?22 Oct 2007 19:16 GMT2
I've been offered a free used Epson Stylus CS5400, but I've also been
cautioned that it's drivers don't function properly with Tiger OS
10.4+...
Does anyone know whether this is true?  If it DOES work properly with
Camera memory card won't appear on desktop22 Oct 2007 05:18 GMT2
This is a new Sandisk 2gb card that reads fine when I connect the camera to my
G4 iMac. With a USB card reader, though, the card only occasionally shows up.
Logging out/in sometimes makes it appear. The card reader is also a USB hub that
works fine. Should I suspect the reader or ...
PRAM Battery21 Oct 2007 06:41 GMT3
Does anyone know the Radio Shack part number for a Mac PRAM battery?  I
have a G4/800 desktop (Quicksilver 2002), but I believe it¹s the same
battery they¹ve used for numerous models over the years.
Thanks for your help.
New iMacs20 Oct 2007 08:25 GMT20
Dropped by the local Mac store today and looked at the new aluminum
computers.  The store was bright and the reflection from the screens
made them essentially useless and the basis for a headache.
I know that portable users can position their computers so this is not a
Wake from sleep issues - 160GB ATA Barracuda20 Oct 2007 07:54 GMT2
Having an issue with a Seagate Barracuda drive.  It just won't wake from

Any suggestions?  I've looked and found threads detailing issues with
other Barracuda drives taking 90 seconds to wake, but they mainly seem
Replaced optical drive doesn't play DVDs20 Oct 2007 03:23 GMT7
I replaced the Super Drive on my G5 Mac Power PC after getting constant

20" Clear Cinema no picture19 Oct 2007 17:44 GMT1
I have a 20" clear cinema that when I power it on I get a blank screen
and the powerlight stays on but do not pulse.   Has anyone encounter
this and if so what did you do to resolve this issue? I am connecting
this cinema to a G4 Dual 867 with a GeForce4 MX
