Mini would be great... if not Mini16 Aug 2007 14:36 GMT13
In Mac "Mini heat sink upgrading?" some people suggest that it would
be really great to have a decent size hard disk spinning at a decent
speed, with a decent amount of memory and so on at a decent price.
I agree but it seems Apple thinks they're providing desktop computers
New keyboards15 Aug 2007 02:46 GMT19
Was disappointed to see that neither of the new Apple keyboards announced
yesterday have no backlighting option.
I'm looking for a MacBook-like keyboard complete with backlight.
Any ideas?
G4 HD Grief14 Aug 2007 21:52 GMT3
G4 MDD w/ X.3.9 &/or X.4 DVD.
Bought multiple ST3250820A ("250 GB" unformatted) drives for use in G4 MDD.
It had existing ST3200822A ("200 GB" unformatted) drives in ATA-4 chain
& smaller drive in ATA-6.
Airport Express and Static/DHCP environment14 Aug 2007 15:15 GMT6
I am not sure that is the right place to ask, but maybe. So, I have ISP
which is giving me DHCP private WAN address. I have Airport Express
configured for DHCP IP addresses distribution and NAT them to a single
IP address. My Macbook uses DHCP with this AE and no problem exist.
questions about MacBook Pro13 Aug 2007 01:54 GMT2
I just got a MacBook Pro.
My old system is a dual 1.25 G4, FW-800 with 4 internal hds
and 6 external fw hds full of mostly mp3s. And i still have my
old 400 MHz G4.
Mac mini DVD burner/drive DEAD...good external replacement?13 Aug 2007 01:42 GMT2
In the last week, the DVD/CD burner on my Mac Mini has started making
horrible noises, scratching discs, and now no longer reads discs at
all.  My system is out-of-warranty, and taking it to Apple to have the
DVD drive replaced would cost an arm and a leg.  i figured it would be

OS 10.2 on a G312 Aug 2007 19:22 GMT3
My father gave me his old PowerBook G3 with a 60GB hard drive and 160MB of
ram.  It is currently running with OS 9.2 and I was wondering if I could
upgrade it to OS 10.2.
I'm kind of new to Macs so I apologize if this is a stupid question.
External HD vs Portable HD12 Aug 2007 03:03 GMT4
I travel and stay at one place for a couple of months occasionally. I
usually go "bare" as it were as far as back-ups go for catastrophies. I
am thinking about getting something that is resilient, durable, and
relatively small to take with me when I leave on my projects.
Slow down to a crawl when there are disk / file system access11 Aug 2007 16:41 GMT5
In the last 2/3 weeks I start experiencing this crippling
behaviour in my MacOS X Tiger on Intel iMac system: whenever
there are a continuous writing to the disk / file system (such
as downloading, copying, even memory paging), the MacOS X system
RAM max in MacBook Pro11 Aug 2007 09:30 GMT14
I have a 2 GHz Core Duo MacBook Pro. I had 2 x 1 GB sticks but one just went
bad. How much can I put in?
I've done a bit of googling and this one site seems to have much of what I
could glean elsewhere. But, I'm still not sure. It seems to say I could do

All of a sudden my audio-in has died.
Everything was working fine... then my mic stopped
working.  I have two mics and neither of them now
work whether i plug them into the iMic USB device

Memory capacity of PowerBook Pismo?10 Aug 2007 06:50 GMT3
It started as a G3 PowerBook Pismo, and has been upgraded to a G4.  How much
memory could I upgrade to?  It is currently at 1GB.

How bit businessmen ruin us09 Aug 2007 19:05 GMT4
This message was entitled "How lame can Apple get?" on
comp.sys.mac.system and, until now, received only a comment from a
very forthright guy called Michelle. Let's see if we can get a minimum
of substance:
