Inkjet printer recommendation ?19 Sep 2006 20:13 GMT1
Trying to find a good replacement for my wife's Epson C80 which is now
barely printing text after replacing all cartridges.
Looking for a basic color printer with good text capability and OK
color/photo printing.

iBook Firmware 4.5.4f118 Sep 2006 21:34 GMT1
I don't know a lot about these things but I thought that I would try to do a
repair on an iBook G3 700 for a friend.  The header for the logic board
broke, so I bought a used logic board only to find out that it was set up
with firmware version 4.5.4f1.  I can't seem to find out ...

Max ram in iMac/Flat Panel17 Sep 2006 20:24 GMT7
I have a 2002 iMac, 15" flat panel unit.  It has the 128mb factory
installed module, and a 128mb user installed module.  Can I put a 1gb
user installed ram module in the slot, or will that go over the limit?
Am I limited to putting a 512mb chip in that slot?
a FireWire cable question17 Sep 2006 04:26 GMT2
Both the Apple brand thin FireWire cable and the Belkin retractable FireWire
cable are a gazillion times more practical than the heavy duty standard
FireWire cables.
QUESTION. In real life usage, are the thin cables working at the same speed
Parallels causes kernel panic16 Sep 2006 12:21 GMT7
I just bought one of the new Core 2 Duo iMacs and installed Parallels.
I tried to create a VM for Solaris 10 and got a kernel panic when I
tried to activate it in order to install the OS. I restarted and tried
again for Vista Beta 2. Same thing - kernel panic, crash, restart.
Dead Laptop - need to get data off drive16 Sep 2006 11:07 GMT4
My old laptop had a fight with a magnet and lost. It will no longer
start. I want to take out the drive and put it into some sort of USB
caddy to drag the data off.
Is this possible?
Harddisk Powerbook G316 Sep 2006 05:59 GMT2
I have a Powerbook G3 with a defective harddisk.
The original disk is an IBM DKLA-22160 2 GB IDE-drive.
My questions are:
- Can I replace it with any 2,5 inch IDE drive or is there some special

Airport Express vs. Encrypted Linksys Wrt54g Router14 Sep 2006 16:12 GMT1
I simply cannot get the airport to hook on to the network that i have.
Things were working fine until I encrypted the Router to keep what
seems like 8 million of my closest friends off of it.  After encrypting
the Linsys... the Apple Airport Express will not hook on.  Anyone else

One drive didn't mount, and now I've got a second such drive--on the
same bus. Are the drives bad or do I have a bad bus? Thanks.

Keyboards with smaller keys?13 Sep 2006 01:12 GMT3
I find that the current trend in keyboards is to uses fairly large keys that
fill the the keyboard's available area. This includes the Apple Pro keyboard
I am using. I find that my big fingers tend to catch the corners of adjacent
keys so that I introduce extra characters.
