XANTE ACCEL-A-WRITER SUCKS BLOWS STINKS30 Aug 2006 23:59 GMT5
This printer sucks, it takes 30 minutes to print a simple file from my
mac g4, and i updated the drivers.  It's garbage, when the print does
come out after years of time gone by it looks decent.
Any ideas anyone?
Keyboard and new Quad Core Mac30 Aug 2006 20:41 GMT5
Hello all, I just purchased a new quad-core Mac Pro and am having
problems with OS X picking up the keyboard. I have plugged both the Pro
and my old G4 Mac into a LinXcel KVM switch, and both pick up both the
keyboard and mouse (which is plugged into the kb's USB port). However,

I just changed the batteries in my wireless mouse (got an iMac G5), but
now it won't track at all. The button works, but it doesn't move the
mouse pointer. I don't understand! Do I have a faulty mouse?

Not having checked for years, I'm wondering whether this ol' AGP 400,
with perhaps the addition of some magical gizmo, is now able to
accomidate an USE more than one Gig of RAM.

I'm wondering if anyone is using the Microtek Scanmaker 4600 with OS X
and if so what drivers they are using?
I went to Microtek web-site driver download page (for European region):

It looks like the lower memory slot on my wifes PB is fried - whatever

about it in the Diagnostics part in System Profiler.
What can we do? The machine is not in warrenty and we don't have
Fried ethernet on G5 iMac26 Aug 2006 07:06 GMT9
A few hours ago we came up from a power outage due to a thunderstorm.
My wife's G5 iMac (more than a year old and not under Apple Care)
appears to have lost its ether.
I get an active light on the switch that the ether is connected to, but
Best Notebook to Get?  Mac Questions from a Newbie25 Aug 2006 07:06 GMT4
My son is starting college in a Multimedia field.  We have always used
Windows PC's but now he will be switching to Mac.  Since I'm new to
this I really don't know where to start.  He wants something he can
use with school or work though so I figured a notebook is best.  He
Mac Mini cooling fan25 Aug 2006 07:05 GMT1
Lately my Mac Mini's cooling fan seems to be increasing in speed as the
computer seems to be more at rest.  I have a couple of applications
idling, and yet the computer sounds like it's thinking really hard.
Once I start engaging it in tasks, the fan slows down.  i would expect

I have a 120GB Seagate internal ATA drive in a G4 DA that doesn't give

Questions about Mac Mini-How much power do I need?23 Aug 2006 23:03 GMT6
I was earlier looking at a MacBook Pro for my son.  The problem is the
cost was higher than we wanted and we later realized he didn't need
the portability since he has a computer in his classroom.  He lives in
a dorm and we're worried about theft.  A laptop is just so easy to
Absolute Newbie Question, Part II Apple Mac PowerPC 966/35023 Aug 2006 22:13 GMT6
I now have the Apple Mac 966 that I asked for advice about, here, on 16
Aug. It came with an adapter with a standard hi density PC monitor
socket and a row of switches. So that problem disappeared.
SO I have plugged the keyboard in and the mouse into the keyboard. The
