I have an annoying problem with my 30G gen 5 ipod: instead of the usual
progress bar and the volume bar, i see 5 gray circles, which is not
very helpful. i doubt that this is a new feature ipod. does anyone
happen to know how it happened and how do i get my progress bar back?

Hardware with Mac06 Jul 2006 21:30 GMT3
I'm in the final stages of planning a move to Mac after using MSDOS/Windows
computers since the early Intel 8088 days.  If I make the switch it will be
to either the desktop or portable dual core Mac.  I've asked in another
forum about the software I might need and wonder about ...

I have a (possibly) difficult issue06 Jul 2006 17:11 GMT1
I have come to find myself in a situation where I am in possession of a
PowerPC G3, a relic my uncle has charged me with,
post-accidentally-deletion of much of his own data; I am tasked with
recovering it, and I really have no idea where to even begin; I grew up
Best iPod FM transmitter?05 Jul 2006 21:28 GMT14
I want to give an FM transmitter as a gift to someone who owns a 20Gb
Generation4 Ipod (small color screen) and an iMac. To listen to her
music in her car (multi-CD changer, no cassette) she has resorted to
burning CDRs of her music and lugging them around (while her iPod sits

Has anyone here used this graphics card in a G4/400 Sawtooth:

and has it been satisfactory? This one (cheaper) looks like the same
thing, but it says it's for Windows. Is it safe to put it in my G4?
retro original Macintosh04 Jul 2006 20:00 GMT58
How about a Mac that:
* Have an enlarged version of the original Macintosh case, except, of
course, replacing the floppy disk slot with a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM disk
slot and replacing the ports on the back.
Good 20" LCD?04 Jul 2006 05:00 GMT9
I was looking at the Samsung 204b. Someone on Amazon wrote, "It has 6
bits / channel for colors and is not suitable for photo editing. The
204T version, albeit old, is slower [not for gaming], but is 8 bits /
channel for colors."

MAC-mini & Apples remote control?01 Jul 2006 12:43 GMT1
I've got an "older" MAC-Mini, one without Intel-Inside.
I know the mini lacks an IR-receiver, but is there any way to get Apples
remote control to work with it.
Does anyone know about a decent how-to?
