Printing in 9 and X30 Jun 2006 23:29 GMT4
My Canon printer just died.  It was only a couple of years old, so I'm
not very happy with Canon right now - I had nothing but trouble with
this printer.
I just need a simple ink jet for basic printing.  I use color often
should I remove scsi card?30 Jun 2006 09:03 GMT2
Is there any advantage (in regard to system operation) to removing a no
longer needed scsi card (Adaptec 2906) from my G4/400 Sawtooth? (I'm
cleaning house, trying to get rid of superfluosity.)

I'm needing to get 500+ gig external storage for photo storage and
need to connect to an iMac via firewire (running Tiger).
I was looking at Lacie but have read they have quality control issues.
What are good external storage solutions for the iMac?

The PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-104 inside my Mac (MDD G4 1GHz dual) is
beginning to die and I need to replace it.  Before I do so, I have some
questions:
As I already have 5 external firewire HD drives, I guess I'd be better

Some help on Mac hardware28 Jun 2006 04:37 GMT3
I am a wall decor manufacture and do extensive "virtual framing".
Meaning we scan images and then put frame and mat around the piece,
extensively color correct and push to a high speed printer. The wait
period comes in moving around these high-res files.
PM 6500 battery?27 Jun 2006 23:51 GMT4
Someone gave me a 6500/225 so I thought I'd fix it up to give to a very
poor student I know.  Getting the date/time gremlins, I pulled out the
board to check out the battery.  Never saw one like it.  A big black
cubeish thing, roughly 1" square, says Rayovac 840, 4.5 Volts, and ...
Upgrading G4 AGP 400 to dual 45027 Jun 2006 18:03 GMT1
Got a dual 450 Mhz module at a fair price. The seller is a known
trustworthy dued on .dk NG's, so the cpu module most likely is ok.
My PowerMac G4 AGP 400 Mhz has the required min. ASICS 7.
Firmware is 4.2.8f-something. It's installed with 10.3.9 .
Touchpad Software26 Jun 2006 00:14 GMT6
Is there a software solution that will enable an iBook's touchpad to
allow a tap to act as a click?

White vs. black 2.0 GHz MacBook?25 Jun 2006 20:14 GMT2
What's the difference, other that 20 more Gigs of hard drive and the
color?  Can't see that's worth an extra $200.  Is there any reason I
shouldn't go with the cheaper one?

Powerbook G3 Wallstreet Keyboard wierdness25 Jun 2006 00:15 GMT3
I've gone through all the steps to put a 40Gb drive in this Wallstreet

their slots as directed, but when I get to the part about pressing down
Little bit of G5 help needed23 Jun 2006 20:31 GMT2
in the slots where you put the PCI cards, top-back. I had trouble
getting that darn screw back into the hole. Maybe I stripped the darn
thing. I know I stripped the screw. What's the best way to to get that
screw to stay in there and not strip it in the first place--failing

I might want to upgrade the video on an old Umax C600 mac clone

high resolutions @ high color depth that I can't have with the 1MB
