SCSI -> Video out ?30 May 2006 14:08 GMT1
I've heard mention about a device which was used with early
Mac powerbooks which had no video out. This was a SCSI
to video adapter.
Did this device ever actually exist if so any idea what it
How long should my G4 last?30 May 2006 13:33 GMT1
Bought it in 2001. Still running well. (The old T-book laptop.) What
can I do to keep this thing going? Tune ups?
Macintosh Proforma 6400/20029 May 2006 23:27 GMT2
My 11 year old nephew just bought a Macintosh 6400/200 Power PC and
my dear 83 year old mother asked me to take it home and make sure it
works for him.
It works.  but apparently has all software wiped out.
Mac Compatible Video Editing Software?29 May 2006 16:03 GMT1
Does anyone know of any mac compatible video editing software besides
iMovie and Final Cut Express and
Pro.  I am using an imac g5 OSX 10.4. If you have any suggestions

PowerMac 6xxx and G3 upgrades29 May 2006 11:19 GMT7
I currently have a Performa 6200, and it's quite an euphemism to say
that this piece of crap is slow, so I'm considering upgrading it with a
6360/6400/6500 logic board, and then upgrade it to a G3. The question
is, does it matter whether it take a 6360 board or a 6500/300 if I
Need to know polarity of RAYOVAC 4.5V battery (840,841)29 May 2006 08:18 GMT4
I was testing my 4.5V RayOVac battery and I pulled the keyed 4-pin
connector off the wires to test it and forgot to check which way the
connector is keyed before I did. Darn it!
Now I don't know which way to put the wires back into the connector
Power supply "bricks" - equivalence?29 May 2006 04:13 GMT5
I was recently sold a Kensington power supply (33069) by a Mac shop in
France with the assurance that it was safe and would work with my
PowerBook.  (I was desperate and wanted to believe them!)
I then checked with the Kensington web site and found that my laptop (G4
Benchmarking a G527 May 2006 19:50 GMT6
Hi. I've got an iMac G5, and I'm unsure whether or not it's performing
up to scratch. It often runs so slowly that I suspect hardware problems.
Rather than lug it all the way to the apple store to get them to look
at it, I  was hoping I could test the hardware out myself. I've run ...
Sudden boot problems, iBook G425 May 2006 20:11 GMT9
Suddenly, my iBook G4 1.33 GHz (just out of warranty...) will not boot.
It stops at the grey apple before the little carousel appears, or even a
tad before, mostly not allowing me as far as a single-user boot so I can
see what happens.
Salvaged Powerbook 9600 cd-rom in an imac25 May 2006 17:36 GMT2
I have one of the Original iMac (Rev. A) whose cd-rom is kind of hit or
miss. Where I work I saw an old Powerbook 9600 destined for the trash.
I was thinking of salvaging the cd-rom from there to use in the imac
but was wondering if it would be compatible before I start tearing the
power outages25 May 2006 12:41 GMT4
Our power company has this nasty little habit of momentary power
outages, usually in the early morning around 7-8 a.m. As a result, I
usually have to re-boot my Mac mini and my external firewire drive. (I
boot from the external firewire for my OS to run the system, as it is a
ibook drive problems24 May 2006 18:32 GMT1
Ibook G4
OSX Tiger
I am a geek when it comes to PCs but I don't know much about Macs.
Recently my Ibook started having problems.  It wouldn't boot properly -
Surge Protectors24 May 2006 05:13 GMT9
I was recently told by an "expert" that surge protectors deteriorate
over time and the protection is lost.
Is this true?  At what interval should one get a new protector?  Is it
any help to connect two in series (ie, more protection, longer life)?
iMic alternative recommendation needed23 May 2006 19:10 GMT2
Guys,
I hate to bug you again - i just figured out what camera to use, now i
realised that i'll be needing an USB mic for my mini mac (it does not
have a mic in jack) - anyway i am trying to figure out what will work
No sound input on G4 powermac- weird22 May 2006 18:50 GMT1
I have a AGP G4 powermac, 533mHz, running OS 9.1. And when I go into
the sound control panel, I have no sound input options apart from CD.
The "onboard" sound doesn't show up.
I have tried....
