Upgrade to a Superdrive?29 Apr 2006 13:03 GMT7
This might be a bit of a noob question, but if an existing system has a
dvd-rom drive, it is possible to upgrade such system to a Superdrive? As
I understand it, this 'superdrive' is like the Pioneer 106, 110 models,
or you could use other brands/models if you patch the system ...

2 different printers, one manual duplex printing problem28 Apr 2006 03:28 GMT1
I have a Canon i960 inkjet and an HP LaserJet 2420. Neither one has
built-in duplexing, so when I want to print back-to-back, I print all
the odd pages and then the even ones. The problem: Even though I
DEselect *collate* and "reverse* in the print dialog box, both printers

CD/DVD brand identifying software27 Apr 2006 23:02 GMT7
Are there any "identifier" type programs for the Mac which tell you the
brand name etc. of a blank CD-R or DVD-R?
There are lots of these for PCs, but I haven't come across anything for
Macs.
Can I tell iPod Shuffle not to loop?27 Apr 2006 21:07 GMT5
Excuse the cross-posts, but:
1.  My ISP only carries comp.sys.mac.systems of these groups
2.  There doesn't appear to be a newsgroup specific to iPod questions,
so I am shotgun-approaching this
DVD-RAM writing with "Superdrive" UJ-825 possible?27 Apr 2006 19:52 GMT9
Is there a way to enable a Panasonic/Matshita UJ-825 (Superdrive) in the
aluminium Powerbooks to *write* DVD-RAM?
The burner should be able to do that, according to
<http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDnameid=385&Search=Search&list=>.

What is a RAID?26 Apr 2006 18:44 GMT9
I have been hearing about some kind of hardware called a RAID, but I don't
know what it is.  I assume it's a kind of server, but that's just a guess.
What is it, what's it used for, and how is it different from other types in
its class (whatever class of hardware that is)?
What PC-100 for my B&W G3?25 Apr 2006 17:56 GMT2
I have a 128MB PC100 sick of Ram that I want to put into my B&W G3/350.
It's from a PC, my G3 takes PC100.
Not sure if I use EDO or Non-EDO in the G3.
Is it okay to just put this in and see if it works?
