Recommendations on film scanner?07 Feb 2006 04:57 GMT1
Anyone with recommendations on an inexpensive film scanner?
Must be either USB or FireWire interface, play well with Tiger, and interface
with Photoshop. Bus-powered would be a great bonus to ensure portability of use
with an iBook.

How can I disable the Mighty Mouse second button?05 Feb 2006 19:28 GMT7
I'm configuring a Mac for my mother to use and I want to disable the
second mouse button to simplify the Mac's use for her. From what I've
read, that's a feature of the Mighty Mouse and the reason why I bought
it but I'm new to Mac and I do not know how to do it. Does anybody

I've already posted another copy of this in the portables mac section,

Powerbook backlight - what part has "the bulb" ?05 Feb 2006 08:50 GMT1
Hi. The backlight is broken on my 12" G4 Powerbook. I'd like to replace
the bulb, but I don't want to solder and so forth, so I will buy the
part on which the bulb is placed. Anyone know which part this is? (I'm
guessing that it's the inverter cable)
forcing g3 firmware update?04 Feb 2006 04:14 GMT15
I have a B&W G3 (rev 2 motherboard, as noted by '402' on the IDE controller)
where I tried to install a Sonnet 1GHz G4 accelerator.  In spite of pulling
all the PCI boards except the video, and doing a video board firmware update,
the system continued to get random crashes.  So I'm ...

Weird hard drive error problem02 Feb 2006 06:03 GMT10
I've mentioned this over in the system newsgroup, since it seemed to
have something to do with Classic, but it seems more likely a hardware
problem.  This is on a 5-year old 467 MHz G4 with a 30GB IBM ATA drive
(orignal) -- IBM-DTLA-305030.  Running 10.4.4.  If I enable or disable
