| computer to stereo connection | 25 Jan 2006 04:43 GMT | 7 |
I'd like to send my streaming FM music to my stereo receiver. Are there any transmitters that are designed for desktop computers, rather than iPods? I'd like good sound quality and no batteries. It could be USB driven or from the headphone output, either one. I'm using an ...

Hey, has anyone figured out how to control bluetooth (blued) via the command line (in OS X)? I'm talking simple stuff like turning it on and off, or seeing what's connected to it, scanning for more devices, etc.

| Connecting an old laser printer to a new MacBook | 23 Jan 2006 03:08 GMT | 4 |
I suppose that the issues involved are the same as for a powerbook, so there should be some knowledge around. I have an HP LaserJet IIP that is, well, it's almost as old as I am. As can be imagined, it's not USB.

| True Postscript printers for OS X? | 22 Jan 2006 21:25 GMT | 34 |
I've got a Lexmark E320 which is beginning to jam often enough to need a repair, so I'm looking at laser printers (monochrome) as replacements. The E320 won't print some PostScript pages correctly, so I'm looking for true PS printers, and so far I've found only the Ricoh A410. None ...

| I hate OS X | 22 Jan 2006 18:28 GMT | 13 |
Things just keep breaking. Things just stop working. I have had so much trouble. I never had this much trouble with OS 9. Woo hoo! OS X never crashes, but what good is it if things just don't work? I bought 3 backup programs before I found one that actually works. I've had so

Greetings again! I posted earlier about upgrading our G4 and appreciate all the responses we got - we're taking everything into consideration and upgrading a bit at a time as we can afford it. I have a new problem! I have only opened the computer a few times, but it

Hello; I'm just ordering a Macbook this week, migrating from Linux to Mac OS X. I expect that in general I'll find it a smooth transition, but I've got one question that only just occurred to me today: In general, I

| Keyboard recommendations | 21 Jan 2006 23:29 GMT | 2 |
I'm a bit old-fashioned in my keyboard preferences, although not too much so. I'm looking for an ergonomic keyboard, ideally with the old-school 2x6 navigational keys and the inverted-T arrow keys, and with a built in USB hub. This will replace my current PS/2 keyboard, which

| Mac Mini alternative wireless connection to DSL (no Airport Extreme)? | 21 Jan 2006 19:12 GMT | 15 |
I recently picked up a Mac Mini for work as I understood we were getting DSL; I figured there'd be no problem in hooking up via the Ethernet port. While I'm sure that this is the case, I was just given a box with a small outboard wireless connector or receptor, that is to connect to ...

| changing creator | 20 Jan 2006 18:24 GMT | 1 |
In OS 9 with Quickeys, I could select a bunch of files and then change the creator for all of them with but a single click. I can't figure out how to do that with OS X Quickeys. Is it possible? Is there another way to do it?

| Will my mac balk on a partioned external FAT-16 HD? | 20 Jan 2006 03:26 GMT | 2 |
I do audio work and routinely need to shuttle huge files between Wintel and Mac (10.3.9) -- Been happily using a 120gb drive formatted in FAT 16 housed in an enclosure that provides fw400 & usb2.0 enclosure. It's time for a new drive and I can get a 200 gb cheaper than 120gb
