Backup question11 Dec 2005 01:45 GMT3
I just bought a Lacie 250 GB Fire Wire hard drive.  My intent was to
back up my G4 Mac on it.  My brother suggested that I install Tiger
on it and then install the basic files (system programs) on it and
still have room to store all the pictures I am working on.  I need a
Remote access to G4 from MacMini and vice-versa10 Dec 2005 02:40 GMT5
I'm getting a MacMini at work and I'm wondering how to be able to access
files on my home G4, which is connected to a cable modem. The work MacMini
will be on a DSL line. As I occasionally may have to access one computer
from the other, I'm wondering if someone could give me some ...

I am trying to connect an external microphone to my Titanium PowerBook

I tried a Logitech USB mic, but it was mono and the sound was pretty
bad, so I returned it,.

PowerMac G5 Dual running on only 1 CPU?08 Dec 2005 17:19 GMT4
The about this Mac box says that my Dual G5 2 Ghz has only 1 CPU and
the System Profiler also does. The activity monitor shows only 1 bar.
So, do I really have only 1 working CPU or is it just a software bug?
Hard drive choice for audio/video08 Dec 2005 00:01 GMT2
A couple of weeks ago I bought myself a spanking new 15" Powerbook G4
which I intend to use for many things including video editing and
multi-track audio recording.
I've been told to use an external drive for these things, because of the
TV on iMac07 Dec 2005 19:54 GMT1
I am considering upgrading from a beige G3 tower to the current iMac.
The G3's video board supports TV signals from a VCR (as tuner) so I can
watch TV in a window or full screen.
The iMac will not do that as it stands but have started reading about
LF: OSX Driver for Portrait Labs Pivot 1700 monitor07 Dec 2005 03:28 GMT1

This beauty sits connected to my PM 7500/G3-375 MHz running OS9. It

New G5 just quit?06 Dec 2005 22:51 GMT15
I've got a brand new G5 (2.3 Ghz) that I've had a couple of weeks. (Love
it!)
I was just using it, and it just shut down. Turned off. Everything I had
open was lost (fortunately nothing important).

a Pioneer DVR-110 dvd burner online for upgrading purposes.  I've heard
Hard Drive Upgrade Issues05 Dec 2005 23:33 GMT1
The last time we upgraded a 2.7 DP to two 500gb drives it was easy as
can be - plugged a second drive in, did a quick disk utility format,
cloned the system drive and then pulled the original system drive and
replaced it with a second 500gb hard drive and formatted that.
ADB <-> PS/205 Dec 2005 18:46 GMT4
I've seen quite a few ADB -> USB (ie use an old style Mac keyboard with
a USB Mac) connectors, but wondered is it possible to go
USB (or PS2) -> ADB  (ie use a PC style keyboard/mouse on a classic
Mac)?
Format software for HDs?05 Dec 2005 16:07 GMT5
Is h.d. formatting software only available for SCSI drives? I look around and
see no "low level" formatting utilities for IDE/ATA drives under OS X. I find
plenty of "write 0's to the sector", and "erasing" utilities (I presume this
only wipes the directory).
