iPod got hosed...help please20 Dec 2005 02:07 GMT4
I had to reinitialize my iMac G5's hard drive and reinstall everything.
When I do this, I use PodWorks to get the songs off my iPod and back
into the computer.
But when I fired up iTunes for the first time, it said (and this is the
How to get a free Ipod19 Dec 2005 05:32 GMT2
This is not a joke, this is seriously a way to get a FREE 60GB IPOD
VIDEO, this is proven to work and is absolutely free if you follow my
directions completely. You can try it for free, don't send me any money
at all, this whole process takes absolutely no money, just a little bit
New to burning...19 Dec 2005 01:02 GMT15
I just got my first DVD-equipped computer, and I burned a DVD (-RW) to
back up some files...I went to "reburn" it (isn't that what rewriteable
means?) and I get the message: "Insert a blank disc to begin". What am I
supposed to be doing? (I was clicking on the "Burn" button in ...
iMac G3 sleep - problem with HD18 Dec 2005 20:55 GMT4
Is the following a known problem?
I have just purchased a second-hand iMac G3 SE 600 Mhz with 250 Mb
memory and 80 Gb HD. This is a graphite model which I believe came out
early 2001. It is currently running Panther 10.3.9.
iMac image size17 Dec 2005 23:38 GMT5
I just bought an iMac G5 with the 17 inch monitor.  I discovered that
everything seems to be about 75 percent size--type appears small, 11
inch high pages are only 8 inches high, etc.  I tried Apple support and
after trying a couple of "fixes" suggested by the furriners, they
Best DVD Archive Tech?17 Dec 2005 19:23 GMT1
I am about to jump on the DVD-burning bandwagon to archive my photos and
downloaded music.
My preference is to add an INTERNAL DVD burner that is as "Apple compatible"
as possible - whatever THAT means.  In the old days, I recall Apple's disk
Advice on Media for LaCie Porsche FW DVD Burner (Plus Playing DVDs)17 Dec 2005 14:12 GMT3
I just put in an order for a new LaCie DVD burner; in my haste, I forgot
to order any blank DVDs for it. :-\ Anyway, this is my very first DVD
burner, and I was wondering what type and brand would be best for this
particular burner (DVD-R? DVD+R?). Also, what software would I have ...

So, I want to get an old PowerMac to add to my collection
of computers, but I need to be able to run 2 monitors off
it at 1600x1200 (either analog or DVI or one of each).
Did any of the G3 PowerMacs come with dual monitor cards
Powerbook startup problem; static shock?15 Dec 2005 03:57 GMT1
My son is having a problem with his G4 Titanium Powerbook. While he's got it
at college and I haven't been able to play around with it to troubleshoot,
he has explained that he can't get it to boot up properly, even from the
original OS X discs. I think that it may be a problem with ...
Resetting PRAM keystrokes?14 Dec 2005 17:39 GMT1
I can't remember how to do this.
My iMac won't recognize anything, and since yesterday, not even Norton
Utilities startup disk?
I have Panther Systen installation disks and it won't recognize them
Add Aiport Card to 1st Gen iMac G5?12 Dec 2005 19:04 GMT1
I don't think the first generation iMac G5 came with a built-in Airport
Card.  How can I add one and where can I buy it as I don't see it in the
AppleStore online.
TIA,

200 GB Seagate Barracuda shows max capacity at 186 GB12 Dec 2005 00:42 GMT3
I purchased a 200 GB Barracuda by Seagate and when I plug it in using
an external enclosure and a usb 2.0 connection, the drive shows a
maximum storage capacity of only 186 GB.  Is this the maximum storage
that I can get, or is there something that i can do?  I know that with
g5 hard drives won't spin down12 Dec 2005 00:30 GMT6
We have a truly baffling problem with a 1.8ghz single processor G5,
which will gradually spin up its hard drives and never spin them down
again. They thrash around even when no applications are launched. In the
first minute or so after startup they are quite quiet, but after that ...
Blue Man Group to sell Macintoshes? Intel Inside (Blue Apples)?12 Dec 2005 00:25 GMT2
Is Blueman Group going to start playing on Apple- shaped drums? They'll
surely be shown on the video iPod. I can see them being highlighted on
a Mac ad for their latest release. Geez, how weird.
Steve Jobs says that the master plan for months now has been developing
