I am currently running an older G4 with an 867 GHz chip and am
considering upgrading to G5 for speed with Photoshop, etc.  I also need
a Windows box of some sort in order to view radiographic images from
home while on call.  Any ideas on when the new Intel based Macs are

One of my kids got a Nano for Xmas.  Silly me, I should know that very
little is ever backwards compatable with Apple :-)  I have an old G3 300

I can connect successfully EITHER a FW800 harddisk (LaCie d2) OR my new

OS 9.2.   The one with OS-X has a long list of users and I don't
have any of the passwords to access or reset any of them.

Is it okay run Disk Warrior's hardware test on my two internal drives?
I was told that that test can be destructive if the drives are faulty.

Hung over this morning I was moving some files about and accidentally
moved a small itunes music folder (10GB) into a folder on my external
hard drive titled the same... 'itunes music' This is my back up music
folder with maybe 50GB of tunes on it....

a  RenderPix daughtercard. This video card was a $1000 item in 1998.

In iMovie 3.0.3 on my Mac G4, I am using a Canopus ADVC 110 Advanced
Digital Video Converter to import sound from my video camera to iMovie
to use as music for titles I have created.

All I get is a black screen and the fans come on.
I do not hear any hard drive activity or beeps. I have tried holding down

Hi. I have a 6400/200 in need of a OS, could anyone tell me how new I
can go with this machine, OS 9 or higher? This machine was given to me
from a friend of a friend and so on, so far I like it, want to see what

i have a dual 1.8 GHz power PC g5. a couple weeks ago twice the fan
kicked on loudly, someone told me it was a system chrash and to do some
maintenance, i zapped the PRAM and then i rebooted holding down
command-s, at the prompt i typed in

I'm trying to upgrade my roomie's G# Lombard PowerBook with a larger
hard drive. I had a spare 40GB Fuji drive laying around after killing
the Sony laptop it was in, so I gave it to him. Unfortunately we're
having problems getting it to work.
