Powerbook keyboard parts04 Jun 2005 16:29 GMT3
Does anyone know of a source for the little plastic scissors mechanism
that holds the Powerbook keys to the keyboard? I've searched extensively
without success. Does anyone know what this little widget is called? I
might have more success if I searched on the proper name. Thanks.
[OS9 Disk Setup]<not supported> 9GB SCSI drive04 Jun 2005 11:51 GMT9
My beloved 'FrankenMac' - more or less a Beige G3 (Gossamer logic board
with rev. A. ROM) kept running with salvaged parts - was due for a hard
disk upgrade from an abominable Seagate Barracuda 4.3GB drive to a
lightning quick Seagate Cheetah 9.1GB 10k drive. It had always run OS ...
Bozo Engineering (Redux)03 Jun 2005 23:40 GMT5
Sometime back I ranted about my "unfavorite" device of all time, the
powerbrick, you know, the ones that don't fit into the socket the right way
around so that they end up covering three outlets, that even if they do fit
the right way still block several sockets, ad nauseam. I ...

I am hoping someone with a long memory or a panchant for older hardware
might be able to help me. I am attempting to get USB working on an old
stock 8600/200, and not having very much sucesss. I am using an ASUS

Laptop motherboard fixes with pressure02 Jun 2005 04:21 GMT25
Mac PowerBook G4 won't boot (but will give the boot "bong"). If I press on
the case below the motherboard, it boots and, if pressure is maintained,
functions normally.
If pressure is released, video will scramble, and -- sometimes -- system will

I have changed my old iMac with a new modell, iMac G5 20". Formerly I
could burn my movies with iDVD that where about 90 minutes without any
complaints on a single layer DVD. Now with the new system, my iMac
always requests double layer DVD for the same 90 minutes movie. So how
Advice on 3rd party vs Apple BTO upgrades01 Jun 2005 21:25 GMT2
I'm configuring a new workstation for my employer to get me (I'm on a
3-year replacement cycle, and it is now my turn to upgrade my
Quicksilver G4/867, which has been a great machine). Main work uses are
InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Word, Excel, FM Pro; plus I have some
Seek advice upgrade PC100 SDRAM iMac 35001 Jun 2005 21:18 GMT2
Hi - I am new here (and hope I am in the right place).  I have a stock iMac
350 which has one slot with a 64MB card and a second empty slot.  I would
like to add some RAM, 64MB or 128MB.   I have searched the web for 1-1/2
hours, obviously in the wrong place, for info regarding ...
Display is upside down in Tiger01 Jun 2005 17:28 GMT3
One of the useful little known features of OS X 10.4 (Tiger) is, if you
hold down the option key as you start System Preferences, and keep it
held down as you start the "Displays" pane, you'll get a new popup menu
that allows you to rotate the display in increments of 90 degrees.
