Hex screwdriver for the keyboard30 Jun 2005 13:45 GMT7
I want to open up my G3 iMac keyboard to clean out the dirt that's
fallen to the underside.  Where would I find the kind of hex
screwdriver needed to open it up, and what size should I look for?  (I
bought a generic toolkit, and it has a hex screwdriver that's pretty

Power supply on dead G4 Quicksilver29 Jun 2005 23:28 GMT12
I have been given a dead G4 Quicksilver. It doesn't come on at all when the
power button on the front is pushed. The Apple support site has details of
the pin-out voltages for earlier G4 models (Gigabit Ethernet/AGP Graphics,
etc) but not this model.

I'm new to the Mac world after spending many years with IBM PC's, I managed
to get an iMac 333Mhz with the pop-out style CD-Rom drive for a song. My
question is are there any options for upgrading the internal CD-Rom drive to
a CD-RW, or will I have to plug in an external USB ...
Mac SE floppy drive29 Jun 2005 17:41 GMT6
I've just saved a Macintosh SE (4 Mb memory and a hard drive) from
the trash (found in my street).  I got only the central unit, but my
girlfriend has a fried Mac Classic, so she gave me a keyboard and mice.
The thingy boots just okay, system 7 on hard drive, all needed apps
iPods and mp3s28 Jun 2005 23:35 GMT2
I was having a debate with someone about iPods. Unfortunately, neither
of us have much experience with them, so we were arguing based on our
own feelings.
He told me that he would never buy an iPod since they do not play mp3s.
KVM switch recommendation28 Jun 2005 18:49 GMT1
I am running a Mac G5 with a samsung SyncMaster 191T plus monitor.  I
also have a Windows laptop (Dell 8600) which I use when I have to for
work.  It would be nice to be able to use both computers with one
keyboard and monitor.  I am running a standard Apple keyboard and a

Sorry to cross post, but I thought a few people here might know.
I'm sorry to ask what must seem like a basic question, but I'm new to
the mac, and loving it so far.
I bought a usb flash drive and somewhat stupidly did something so that

Is my laptop compatible with Apple 30" cinema display? Also    question about speakers, media.27 Jun 2005 17:14 GMT5
We are considering replacing our TV, stereo, and VCR with a media center
based on a Mac (w/ iTunes, and a software-based tivo-like functionality such
as http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/eyetv-200.html). Firstly, how do the
Apple Cinema flatscreen displays compare to a TV in terms ...

I have a bunch of items recorded on dvd that I dubbed from my video
camera that I'd like to edit.  Thinking about final cut express but all
the research I see tells me that I have to hook up my camera to import

G5 iMac Speakers24 Jun 2005 21:43 GMT2
Got a new G5 flat panel iMac at the office.  I find that the
