We have a Western Digital 160GB external USB-2 hard drive. It was

files saved on a Mac G3 OS 9x.
We started the transfer, and the files appear to be copying. But will
Can B/W G3 Deep Sleep?12 Mar 2005 18:43 GMT1
I have just bought a 350Mhz B/W G3. It is now running 10.3.8
When I put it to sleep the fans are still working so it is not going
into deep sleep like my G4s. Is the G3 capable of doing Deep Sleep?

15  Al powerbook uneven screen illumination12 Mar 2005 02:49 GMT1
Al 15 PB, I've sent this thing back to Apple once already. The screen
developed a large dark area in the lower right. Luckily ( ? ) it was
also one of the units with the " white spot " screen defect, so they
happily replaced the LCD.

ibook g3 500 won't sleep with lid closed11 Mar 2005 19:21 GMT2
I have recently acquired a 12" ibook g3 500 MHz. I loaded 10.3.8 and all
seems well except the ibook will not sleep when the lid is closed. The
apple logo on the back of the display stays lit and I can hear disk
activity. Any ideas on what could be causing the problem?
FCP on a Mac Mini?11 Mar 2005 15:56 GMT2
I'm planning on getting set up to switch from being a long time Premiere Pro
user to FCP as it is pretty much the standard.
Besides the obvious "Get a G5 and do it right" that is impossible and not an
option at this time.
A FireWire disk has stopped responding etc11 Mar 2005 03:51 GMT1
This alert appears when I wake the computer from sleep.  It warns that
the disk's contents may be damaged.  After a few seconds the alert
disappears and the FireWire disk contents appear to be unaffected.

Suggestion on upgrading a PowerMac G4?10 Mar 2005 21:24 GMT23
I have a user, who has a PowerMac G4 500mhz, 500M Ram, with an AGP card
in it. This person is a Graphic Artist, who works with Adobe, Quark,
etc and large graphic documents. I would like to know the "best" way of
upgrading the system, instead of purchasing the G5.

Will a Mac G4 500 Mhz with 512mb Ram support a 16x Dual Layer DVD burner
using Roxio Toast ?  Best Buy has them for as low as $99 and it seems time
to get one if it work.

G-5 iMac problem10 Mar 2005 09:12 GMT1
Interesting series in MacFixit currently.
Seems that during sleep the power supply is overheating and burning.
Cure seems to be replacing both the PS and the mother-board assembly
(called the "mid-plane").

My daughter just moved to a different area and took along her 2001 iMac 500
Blue Dalmation.  She is running OSX 10.2.  After reconnecting it, it ran
fine for a few days.  Recently after moving it again in order to work on the
table, the monitor acquired a green tint and has not ...
