iPOD and battery question19 Feb 2005 12:24 GMT2
Are the battery issues any better with the new iPODS?  Is there any way
that if a battery goes bad to just buy a battery instead of sending in
the IPOD to service?
What should I look for when buying an iPOD?

Audio preamp to USB18 Feb 2005 14:43 GMT3
I've been converting phonograph records to CDs by going from my stereo
preamplifier to a microphone input on a G3 Platinum. I'd like to be able to
do this on a laptop which requires a USB port for audio input. Is there a
device to permit me to do this?

I find the display on my 20 inch iMac G5 to be much too bright, even
with the brighness control at its minimum.
Is there a way around this ?
Clustering the Mini Mac17 Feb 2005 21:02 GMT121
I was reading an article on O'Reilly -[
http://oreillynet.com/pub/wlg/6208 ]- and the author suggested you
could cluster multiple Mac Mini's with Xgrid -[
http://www.apple.com/acg/xgrid/ ]-.  Is this possible?  If so then
What happened to FWB?17 Feb 2005 05:04 GMT1
Now that I am upgrading from my current machine (see my .sig) to a PM
7600/200 under MacOS 8.6, I need FWB's HD Toolkit 3.0 or later, among
other things.
So I surfed to www.fwb.com, where FWB's Greatest Hits is being offered
Printer compatibility with Airport basestation17 Feb 2005 01:14 GMT2
I am thinking about adding an Airport Extreme base station to my wired LAN
to support wireless laptop connections. I would also like to connect a USB
printer so that I can share it over the network.
The documentation that I have found says that this works with 'compatible
USB hub problems/suggestions16 Feb 2005 20:03 GMT1
I have a G5 iMac that I am going to need a USB hub for. I didn't
want the few USB 1.1 devices I have to throttle the 2.0 stuff so
I was looking at some of the Belkin hubs that keep the bandwidth
divided.
USB 1 with USB 2 external USB devices?16 Feb 2005 06:52 GMT2
I notice some hardware (scanners, printers...) are advertised as having
USB 2.
I have a flat-panel iMac with USB 1. Is it possible to plug in a USB 2
device to one of my USB ports? Would it work (though presumably not as
Limitations of an LCIII's SCSI interface16 Feb 2005 04:54 GMT7
I'd like to know the largest size of drive I can put in an LCIII. I
recently got hold of one, but its 80MB hard disk died. Small drives are
somewhat uncommon these days so it would help to put a more recent
device in there.
Monitor for Mac G416 Feb 2005 00:59 GMT8
What would it take to use an IBM P200 with a PowerMac G4?
I've always built my own PCs, but have been advised that a Mac will work
better for photography. Build-it-yourself doesn't seem to be an option
in the mac world.
iMac unhappy face?15 Feb 2005 21:36 GMT17
Confession, I'm a "PC man ."
However, I have a mate that has an iMac that won't start up and I'm
trying to help him (see, I'm not that bad after all eh) ;-)
I don't have much in the way of background but know he wouldn't have
Will the 100 GB Fujitsu work in a Lombard?15 Feb 2005 20:03 GMT2
I already have a Fujitsu 100 GB drive inside my Pismo, it works great,
bought it new about two months ago from:
( ZipZoomFly.com  $189  Fujitsu MHU2100AT)
It's a bit slow, but that is to be expected for a 4200rpm drive.
