If a PC keyboard is used on a Mac mini, what keystroke combination is
the equivalent of open-Apple (or close-Apple)?
Sending an iTunes song list from a Mac to a PC: How to?20 Jan 2005 20:32 GMT4
A young friend of mine with a Mac has 160 songs in an iTunes library,
and wants to send me a list of them, i.e., title/artist. I myself use
a Win98 computer and am not familiar with Mac commands, software, etc.
And my Win98 system doesn't allow for iTunes, which requires Win2000
iMac G3 needs more memory, bigger HD, airport?20 Jan 2005 18:57 GMT2
Just picked up an old bondi G3 iMac for nearly nothing. Wouldn't start up,
but I managed to get OS X installed on it and it runs. Trouble is, it has a
4GB hard drive and the OS takes up 3GB, plus it has only 96MB RAM. Any hints
for the best way to increase both of these, and add an ...

A local shop to replace the IPOD battery for a flat $50, with 2 days turn
around. Would such service be in high demand?
I appreciate all your input and comments.
Thanks

Power supplies for G4 500?20 Jan 2005 04:30 GMT3
I have a G4 500 which I upgraded to a Giga Designs 1450 Mhz and everything
worked fine for a while but a couple of days ago, my power supply blew
[electric smell and UPS back up registered an overload - some kind of short
i guess]. Anyway, the computer is dark. The power supply ...
What are the usual signs that a monitor is going bad?19 Jan 2005 21:01 GMT4
My screen is still bright, but there is very little contrast (letters
are grey instead of black), and when I move the contrast scale, nothing
changes. There is also quite a bit of flicker.  Is it time to buy a new
one, or can it go on a long time like this?  I'm not convinced ...
RAM testing - - - I got lucky :)19 Jan 2005 17:17 GMT2
I don't trust RAM, no matter  _who_  makes it.   The individual RAM
cells are so tiny, and there are so many of them.   It doesn't take
much of a manufacturing defect to mess things up.
Like others out there, I sometimes get intermittant failures in OSX.
is os x slower on external drive?19 Jan 2005 16:57 GMT1
I had my girlfriend install panther on her new external firewire hard
drive which she uses at work. The tech guy told her today that OS x
runs 'slower' on an external drive and that she should install it on
the internal drive. Is there any truth in this? She says it doesn't
Sharing Keyboard and Mouse between Mac and PC19 Jan 2005 15:45 GMT4
Hey Folks,
At work we're total Microsoft, but I'm total Mac at home :)  I've been
throwing around the idea of getting a Mini Mac for work, but I'd like
to continue using my USB mouse and keyboard I use now on Windows with
My AGP PowerMac won't read home recorded DVD-R19 Jan 2005 14:17 GMT5
My question to the group:
Dvd-R discs recorded in video mode on a GoVideo machine play on my iBook G4,
my wife¹s iMac G4(superdrive) but not on my PowerMac G4.
The PowerMac runs MacOSX 10.3.7, agp graphics and a Hitachi CD/ DVD ROM drive
Apple Wide SCSI card problem19 Jan 2005 06:58 GMT4
I have a Beige g3 with an Apple 53c875 SCSI card for wide SCSI drives.
I have an Apple branded IBM drive in it that works great, but I am
trying to get it to recognise a Seagate Barracuda ST32550W, and Disk
Utility for os x 10.2.8 does not even see it.
Full Screen Firewire DV Viewing?  (iBook as a TV)19 Jan 2005 03:39 GMT5
I've got a Pyro A/V Link interfacing a VCR to my iBook (G3-800, 10.2.8)
via firewire.  I'd like to be able to use the iBook to simply watch
the incoming video, i.e. as a TV.  What's available as a player?
iMovie does not seem to have a full screen mode for displaying "camera"
