So I'm thinking about buying a G4 powerbook and started to wonder...
Any thoughts on when Apple will stuff the G5 into a laptop? Trying to
avoid buyers remorse..

Problems installing Panther on a G3 beige non-minitower 30009 Oct 2004 14:16 GMT6
Does anyone know if the on-board video card on a non-minitower beige G3 300
can be used with panther (which I am, obviously  trying to install with
ExPostFacto)? Or will it cause the whole installation to fail?
Or will it be OK but just make the unit work in 16 colour low resolution

AppleCare a good investment for PowerBook owner?08 Oct 2004 14:59 GMT8
I guess the subject says it all. I have a G4 12" PowerBook almost one
year old, and am wondering if I should buy the extended warrantee from
Apple. Normally I don't think these things are worth the money, but in
the case of laptop computers, it is said that it can be money
MacTivo08 Oct 2004 08:57 GMT2
I've had a TiVo for about a year and a half. I love it.
I've had Macs for 16 years. I just bought my latest Mac, a refurbished
PowerMac G5 from Small Dog last month. It includes a DVD burner.
I'm looking for the most efficient way to copy shows from my TiVo and

Programmer-ish question on USB Device (Energizer UPS)07 Oct 2004 23:29 GMT6
I recently purchased an Energizer UPS for my Mac.
It comes with PC software (natch) but no Mac drivers.
I found a Linux package (NUT) that compiles on the Mac, but it requires
the device to mount under /dev/usb..., but it is an HID device, and I
will more VRAM provide better scrolling?07 Oct 2004 03:16 GMT5
When scrolling up/down web pages, it is a bit bumpy.
Will more VRAM help this? I'm guessing I have 2mb vram on my G3/266 desktop
Or is it a processor issue?
(I have 330 MB RAM)
Dead NIC(s)07 Oct 2004 00:16 GMT1
The onboard NIC in a friend's PowerMac recently went completely dead
-- leaving her with out Internet access. I added a PCI NIC to her
machine to get her back online. This solution worked fine for a few
weeks. Now THAT NIC has gone dead! The NIC's were connected directly
Printer Recommendations06 Oct 2004 18:32 GMT3
I'm in the market for an exceptional laser printer to be used solely
for b&w text printing, and am looking to spend $200-250. Any
recommendations?
Thanks.
