How to kickstart HD?  (Won't start spinning after many months off)03 Aug 2004 15:45 GMT5
Internal Quantum HD (original drive) in PowerMac 8600 won't start
spinning after sitting unused for many months.  The 8600 will boot from
its original System 7.6 CD and read ZIP drives, and Apple System
Profiler shows the internal HD as still there on SCSI port 0, but it
Pionerr DVR-A07U OK in G4?03 Aug 2004 10:28 GMT5
I bought a Pioneer DVR-A07U drive, in the belief that it CAN be used
in Panther on a 733MHZ G4. Am I wrong or right?
I have not yet opened the box, waiting to confirm that it IS
compatible, and installs just as the DVR-107 does.
Hard drive limit question03 Aug 2004 02:52 GMT12
I have a performa 6360.  Can it use a 20 GB hard drive, or is there a
limit? It currently has a 6GB drive, and I wonder if a newer drive can
be installed. The machine works not bad since its been maxed on RAM
and has a nice G3 card in it as well as with USB, and a 100 base T

AirPort:  Typical Bband Routers Work?01 Aug 2004 22:21 GMT9
I see that AirPort is based upon 802.11g, sometimes called "wireless
ethernet" (a bit of a misnomer on my opinion, but no matter).  Does that
mean that a typical 802.11g router like those by LinkSys would work with it?
Relatedly, do you folks know of routers that have a ...
why isn't my external firewire drive bootable?01 Aug 2004 19:07 GMT4
I have CompuCable FireXPress external drive.  The Mac OS supports
installation of OSX on external drives, and supports booting from
firewire drives.  But when I run the installer I can't install OSX on
the drive.
