Mac pro working fine03 Dec 2008 16:32 GMT14
Just a note to say that I finally did manage to get the mac pro to
work. I found a really old CRT I had back in the DOS days and it worked
enough. Interesting that the VoiceOver app requires a monitor to
function properly. I had to reinstall the system though as when I
Turn off Flash on a site-by-site/page-by-page basis?03 Dec 2008 10:56 GMT4
Is there some way to disable Flash by default, but to have it enabled
for particular domains, or for particular pages?

External DVD Writer03 Dec 2008 10:25 GMT13
As my Mac Mini's combo drive has taken upon itself to occasionally
scratch discs I thought I might get an external DVD writer with an
old-fashioned drawer rather than a slot-in mechanism.
I'll use it primarily for importing CD's into iTunes but there doesn't

Apple TV for watching TV02 Dec 2008 19:01 GMT35
Having watched two Freeview recording boxes let the magic black smoke
out, and finding that the latest is hideously unreliable, I've wondered
about a nice safe familiar Apple-based way of watching and recording TV

iMac G4 external speakers02 Dec 2008 18:32 GMT9
Is there a connector available to connect the iMac G4 external speakers
- the spherical ones - to an amplifier (I'm presuming that they require
more than a mere headphone amplifier to drive them)?

Process table full up with ssh_agent processes created by Terminal02 Dec 2008 18:04 GMT4
Every time I start a new shell using Terminal, a new ssh_agent process
is started. (Its PID is not stored in the environment variable
SSH_AGENT_PID.) The problem is that this ssh_agent process lives on
after the shell process completes.
Any BusySync users?02 Dec 2008 15:36 GMT6
Is on offer at mupromo.com today and looks interesting - essentially
looks like a server wrapper to CalDAV plus Google synchronisation, in a
nice preference pane-based interface (not sure if CalDAV is actually
what it -is-, but that's what it looks like).

Mac the ripper02 Dec 2008 06:30 GMT42
Hi again folks,
Recall earlier our thread on audio on dvds. Now, mac the ripper got
mentioned a lot during that and I tried finding it. All of the
downloads don't seem to work at all. Also, I understand the 2.66
possibly best thing since sliced bread if you have multiple os x     machines02 Dec 2008 01:39 GMT6
http://www.abyssoft.com/software/teleport/
Teleport allows you to control multiple OS X machines in a software-
KVM sort of way - i.e. you drag your mouse off one side of the screen
and it automagically appears on the desktop of another machine ready
