| Totally, totally, totally OT | 27 Jul 2008 07:27 GMT | 1 |
Tonight, I talked a policeman out of giving me a ticket which would have resulted in a prosecution for dangerous driving, exposing me to a risk of either a ban or prison (the two likely outcomes, given the video he had of me).

| Streaming iTunes library to an iPod Touch? | 26 Jul 2008 19:49 GMT | 15 |
Is there a way to have an iPod Touch play tracks from an iTunes library sitting on a Mac? I've found Simplify Media, <http://www.simplifymedia.com/iphone.html>, but I'd rather not jailbreak this iPod if I don't have to as it isn't actually mine (it's

Hi folks. Well my hard drive did indeed crash the other day - no chance of rescue as I can hear the poor thing scratching on boot, though I did try the <c> option to boot form DVD then all the options in the format menu. So, is there a limit to the dick size on these? Or can I ...

| USB on older Macs | 26 Jul 2008 14:24 GMT | 8 |
I have a 6 year old G4 aluminium Powerbook that still works perfectly and is still giving sterling service. The only problem is it has USB 1.1 ports. An increasing number of things (iPhones, Elgato TV things and disk drives) say they are USB 2 and don't mention 1.1.

| SQLite command line editing | 26 Jul 2008 11:42 GMT | 5 |
I downloaded the latest (3.6.0) SQLite command line app from their web site, and found that using the arrow keys within the app merely echoes escape sequences. By contrast, using the version (3.4.0) supplied with OS X permits use of the arrow keys for history and command editing ...

| Microsoft Remote Desktop vs 2 - shift key weirdness | 25 Jul 2008 21:07 GMT | 13 |
Anyone else using RDC v 2 ? If so, do you find that it doesn't reliably send shift-key status? Trying to type "A$" quite often results in "A4". Reverted to v1.0.3 and so far so good.

| Memory and CPU management on my Mac | 25 Jul 2008 15:54 GMT | 6 |
I was just wondering whether there is a way to allocate memory to Mac OS X applications in the same way that the old Mac OS used to. Also, is it possible to restrict an application to just one CPU on a dual-CPU system?

I've just seen someone with a SIM-unlocked iPhone try to get it serviced at an Apple Store. The Apple guy observed that it said "T-Mobile" instead of "O2"... He swore *blind* that he hadn't unlocked it. Fantastic stuff. Do you
