Local swf player?14 Jul 2008 22:00 GMT4
I have a Windows-only freebie disc in front of me, a Dora The Explorer
disc to be precise. However, looking at the files on the disk it seems
to be entirely a Flash-based affair. There's a main.exe, but there's
also a main.swf and just about everything else on the disc is an swf

Remote App14 Jul 2008 13:26 GMT20
I have the remote App on my old fashioned, out of date, version 1
iPhone. If I decide to upgrade to the 3G version and use the old phone
as an iPod, would there be any reason to prevent both units from
controlling the same iTunes library ?
QT 7.5 oddity14 Jul 2008 10:17 GMT7
I recently upgraded to QT 7.5, via Software Update.
I also added Flip4Mac and Perian.
Now, compared to a few days ago, QT Player performance is abysmal. On
.MOVs I know well and which used to display beautifully (for example the

iPhones & Apple14 Jul 2008 09:00 GMT29
Whilst I'm really pleased that Apple have finally made a product which
seems to please so many people I can't help wondering if it might be
better if it was discussed in uk.telecom.mobile or if there should be a
uk.iphone group. There does seem to be an incredibly high volume of
O2 systems down in-store :-(14 Jul 2008 08:31 GMT6
I queued up this morning outside an O2 store in Market Harborough - I
was there for 7.40 and there were around 9 people in front of me.
There were three assistants in the store and the first three customers
were taking an eternity to process. Half an hour later the queue was
Time Capsule14 Jul 2008 01:36 GMT1
My brother has bought a Time Capsule so that all his family can back up using
Time Machine. But he's now concerned that anyone in the house can simply
mount the TC drive and look through all his files.
Surely this isn't so? There must be some - even rudimentary - protection
Incompatible Security14 Jul 2008 00:47 GMT1
For tha past week my son has been getting the message Incompatible Security
and he loses his connection to the Internet and cannot log back on.  This
has happened on 2 of macs so far.  One time while using his Netgear router
at home and once on his Macbook Pro at work using a ...
Dreadful LaCie support13 Jul 2008 21:49 GMT11
Has anyone else in this ng had poor support from LaCie, and if so, are
there any tips in getting some sort of service.
At work about three months ago we bought a LaCie Biggest Disk Quadra,
and now one of the disks has failed. I logged a support ticket with
Request for people posting about iPhone13 Jul 2008 21:16 GMT-
Folks, could I make a suggestion ?  This group's name ends in '.mac', not
'.iphone'.  If your post is mainly about the iPhone could you put the word
'iPhone' in the header ?  A title like

deleting storage group in mobileme?13 Jul 2008 18:06 GMT-
I've got a shared storage group that I set up in .Mac which I no longer
require but I can't seem to delete it in mobile.me
I've gone to the online Storage Settings in Accounts which lists the
group and allows you to alter it's size but not delete it. It's minimum
Advent 421113 Jul 2008 18:03 GMT22
My advent 4211 turned up today. Small box. Quite small computer.
If you have seen these, they are clones of the MSI wind but cheaper
running windows with the new intel atom chips.
What makes this not OT is a) there is nothing about a phone, and b), it
Mount an ext3 disk?13 Jul 2008 17:37 GMT1
Any way to do this? I can't see to find a module for MacFuse.

Ian
Could the MobileMe/iPhone problems have been avoided?13 Jul 2008 17:31 GMT3
I have been using macs for just over a year and have had no major
problems - certainly painless to use compared to Windoze.
I am pretty surprised about what has happened in the last few days and
wonder why they choose the rollout as they did. I have great technical
