Perhaps I'm iPhone-bound after all19 Jun 2008 00:48 GMT9

Well done T-Mobile - doubling prices at a time your main competition
has just launched a new shiny thing, whilst simultaneously
demonstrating contempt for the customer in actively trying to work
Firefox 3 f.cked on Panther18 Jun 2008 23:48 GMT1
I downloaded it, tried the install the way they suggested (drag one
icon onto another in the window you get from opening the disc image)
and it tells me I don't have enough privileges.
So I try simply dragging the Firefox icon into the Applications folder
FF3 out now, and it = Safari!18 Jun 2008 22:26 GMT25
That was a bit sneaky. I just joined in with the rest of the plebs and
downloaded FF3, just to get in on this download record thing.
Just launched it, and I thought I'd opened Safari by mistake!!
Apart from that, it won't be my default browser, as it just sits there

Apple can make bad adverts too18 Jun 2008 20:59 GMT20
In fairness to Microsoft's Windows 386 and the Springsteen-alike
musical adverts from the 80s, we proudly* present:

2-0 to Microsoft I think. My god, but that is horrible. And anyway, I
VLC and flvs18 Jun 2008 18:36 GMT1
I have a flv file downloaded from Youtube (it's a test, a ukele piece
saved via the 'activity' window of Safari on Anne's TiBook). I've given
it an .flv extension.
The TiBook is running 10.3.9, and runs other files like .avis perfectly

Now I like that - dual screens on the MB18 Jun 2008 14:57 GMT7
The DVI adapter I ordered arrived this morning, plugged it in, and the
display popped up immediately, and swapped the default desktop straight
onto the larger display.
That's *exactly* what I wanted to have happen. I'm impressed.
FF3 and Mac OS spell checker18 Jun 2008 13:47 GMT-
I've been using the prerelease versions of FireFox 3 for a while now,
and one thing I found really neat about them is that they used the OSX
spell checker.  Now that FireFox 3 final is out it seems that once
again you need to download and install a spell checker extension
Fully set up on the MB now.18 Jun 2008 13:06 GMT-
That's that done then. Got the new RAM (from Crucial) in yesterday, that
rebooted and worked as expected (why not?).
The new hard drive arrived this morning (got a WD Scorpio 250GB from
Dabs for £52), and I got a USB-SATA enclosure off eBay for just over a
Help compiling a program18 Jun 2008 13:05 GMT3
I downloaded Rocks 'n' Diamonds from here:
<http://www.artsoft.org/rocksndiamonds/download.html>
It's a PPC binary and I thought it was running slow under rosetta. Some
things really chugged.
