For those with slow Firefox 330 Jun 2008 23:17 GMT9
I was browsing the MacOrchard web site, and thought this might help one
or two people.

Au revoir Entourage!30 Jun 2008 22:44 GMT31
I have now officially moved over to Apple Mail.  I migrated 26,000
emails over.
Dear Christ, does the excitement never end?
Any gotchas, for the new-To-Mail coming from Erage?
Bought my first film via AppleTV30 Jun 2008 22:11 GMT11
I bought Shaun of the Dead via AppleTv from iTMS last night. Painless, fast
download and the quality is good. No pixelation or anything when watching on
a big TV. Film synced back to my iTunes library this morning when I fired up
the machine that is paired to the AppleTV.

Leopard rant - hard shutdowns all the time30 Jun 2008 19:12 GMT167
Although I'm used to many quirks, I am really annoyed by the number of
times I have to hard power-off machines running Leopard.
My own laptop with the 3G connection, I normally have to hard power off
several times a day - five or six isn't an exaggeration. It happens
Unstuff without Stuffit Expander?30 Jun 2008 18:40 GMT22
I'm not keen on installing Stuffit Expander, and I have -one- file that
I need to unstuff (Folder Icon X, http://naratt.com/FolderIconX.html).
Any options? Command line fine too. I just want something a bit less
intrusive than Stuffit - something that I can trust will do its job
TextEdit 'keep on top'30 Jun 2008 13:33 GMT-
Bouncing between TextEdit & Safari, I just managed to somehow have TextEdit
on top while the focus was on Safari underneath (& I could input text into
Safari too)...I'm pretty sure that's not a standard setting? Haven't managed
to find anything or replicate it....
Keychain30 Jun 2008 08:36 GMT18
Am I missing something?
I want to export a keychain, so I can import it in another machine. Is
there a way of doing that?
Export is greyed out.

QT Pro V VLC29 Jun 2008 19:55 GMT18
I have just opened a fairly large .avi file (934MB) in QT Pro and it
beachballed for about 15 secs before making it available to watch.
Opening the same file in VLC is almost instantaneous, this behaviour
seems to be the norm. Why the difference ? Is it because QT loads up the
Word processors for Mac - the verdict29 Jun 2008 12:38 GMT168
Since everyone was so helpful during my swirlings, I thought I'd report
my conclusions.
I am (after all that) going to keep MS Word for particular, fairly
occasional, donkey work and for very large book-length documents. I have

Is Barack Obama a black muslim?29 Jun 2008 05:14 GMT13
I just heard from a very good source that Obama is a muslim.
Remember what happened on September 11th ? That's his religion.
There's a chance that he's a terrorist!
Vote John McCain who is definitely not a terrorist. He fought in 'nam.
