Google IMAP and Apple Mail App05 Feb 2008 23:15 GMT-
Can some kind knowledgeable sole enlighten me as to what happens to emails
when archived them via the Google web interface?  Clearly they vanish and can
only be seen under the All Mail view but what happens down on the ground -
there is no Archive folder that Mail app can see.

ProKit (whatever that is) goes to 4.5.
iPhoto goes to 7.1.2.
Can 10.5.2 be far behind?
MacBook Air performance...05 Feb 2008 20:57 GMT-
Interesting tidbit from Wil Shipley's blog [1]:
> Update 2/4/2008: My MacBook Air with 2GB of RAM and 1.8 GHz cores and the SSD
> compiles Delicious Library 2 from scratch in 1:59.4. My MacBook Pro with 3GB
> of RAM and 2.3GHz cores and an HD compile it in... 2:04.3.
Symantec Anti-Virus on Tiger and Leopard?05 Feb 2008 20:40 GMT6
If you side-step the question about actually needing to deploy AV on Macs,
and if you were deploying them into a Windows based environment that uses
Symantec AV Corporate edition, would you be happy using the Mac version?
Anyone using it? Does it cause any issues or just work?
Scientology c.nts harrassing BBC Journalists, however they do hate     gays.05 Feb 2008 18:49 GMT20
I read this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_Game_%28Scientology%29
It made me sick.
I hope that stupid bunch of c.nts are exposed for what they are.

Network disk permissions05 Feb 2008 17:13 GMT1
I have an administrator account on the desktop computer at home, but my
working account on my laptop is not an administrator.
When I connect to the desktop machine across the LAN and try to move
files, I keep getting "You don't have permission to do that" messages.
Mitchell & Webb ads pulled?05 Feb 2008 16:18 GMT15
Anyone noticed the Mitchell & Webb UK versions of the Mac adverts have
disappeared from Apple's website?  What's that all about then?  Did they
finally figure if they were never intended to be shown on TV, it was
pretty pointless doing them?

Deleted The Register from my RSS feeds...05 Feb 2008 14:59 GMT9
I've been thinking of doing this for a while. The Register used to be a
good source of tech news. Now it's mostly drivel. Uniformed drivel at
that. So bye bye. Plenty of alternative tech sites out there to replace
it these days.
Network Print Problem.05 Feb 2008 12:31 GMT9
I've a small wired network connecting my collection of  Macs to an
ethernet laser with a netgear DG834G providing the internet connection.
All was happiness, all the Macs had internet and all could print to the
laser. Then I decided to take advantage of the wireless side of the

.has to be the Stopwatch. Has anyone tried it? Do you suppose any of the
designers had *used* a stopwatch with a lap counter before they programmed
it?
The point of a lap counter, FWIW, is that it records the time when you press
The MacBook Air could have been smaller05 Feb 2008 11:52 GMT9
The Air could have had a significantly smaller footprint than the
MacBooks, but they'd have lost their 0.16" boast.
Checking the disassembly photos at
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/First-Look/Mac/MacBook-Air , it looks very
Adding photos to iPod Touch05 Feb 2008 11:05 GMT9
I have a 16Gb iPod Touch. In general it's lovely, just as good as I'd
hoped. It's running vanilla 1.1.3.
I'm sending music and pictures to it via iTunes 7.6. As far as music is
concerned it's all MP3s and MP4 AAC files, and all that works perfectly.
Mac Sales & Support Crook04 Feb 2008 21:22 GMT19
I've continued this from another thread, as my friend's Mac problems seemed
to merit their own discussion:
My friend got a "Mac Specialist Company" to look at his ailing Anglepoise G4.
He was advised his old Mac was on the way out, and they part-exchanged his
