| NTFS For Mac OSX | 28 Jan 2008 20:05 GMT | 24 |
It is occasionally useful to be able to access an NTFS formatted drive on my Mac, and write to it. I have come across some software that offers this ability from a Mac, and I wondered if anyone here had used this software, and have any comments on how well it works?

| PowerBook battery - Can this be right!? | 28 Jan 2008 19:28 GMT | 4 |
So, my four year old G4 Powerbook (17 inch Alluminium) has started to revert to that date (is it 1901?) which lets me know that its internal back up battery needs replaced. Thinking that a replacement would cost about five quid - no, ten quid,

| Widget prefs | 28 Jan 2008 16:17 GMT | 23 |
How do you change widget prefs? The met widget insist on coming up with temperatures in Fahrenheit. They mean nothing to me at all; I can convert them of course, but at first glance I find them a weird ancient aberration.

| Macbook Keyboard Skins | 28 Jan 2008 14:36 GMT | 16 |
Don't bother. They're rubbish. It's a bit like typing on a Sinclair Z88, but with less feedback.

| That's a right old pain in the a...... | 28 Jan 2008 13:51 GMT | - |
I've had a suspicion that my user account may have had some problems with it somewhere. This was recently confirmed by not being able to install PhotoShop Elements 4, failing to run the final installer script for shared files. I created a new user just for testing, and was able to

| Lightroom and Aperture | 28 Jan 2008 13:23 GMT | 9 |
I know there are one or two Aperture users here and wondered what are the features that lead to you using this over Lightroom (or anything else) or vice versa. Prompted by the various speculations about the possible demise of

| PDFs and Preview | 28 Jan 2008 12:44 GMT | 1 |
The majority of PDFs open in Preview with no trouble, but a couple lately only display a load of gibberish, mostly little hollow rectangles and a few other strange symbols. If I go to the trouble of firing up Acrobat Reader, the PDF displays

| ISO (or other Image) burning from Context Menu | 28 Jan 2008 10:06 GMT | 6 |
On the PMG5, I have a splendid little contextual menu plugin that, when one right clicks an ISO or DMG, enables you to burn it directly to a blank disc - no tedious mucking about in Disk Utility or whatever. Unfortunately, the genius frenchman that created it hasn't done an Intel

| Time Machine and Migration Assistant | 28 Jan 2008 06:44 GMT | 6 |
So today I needed to use Time Machine in earnest. Messing about trying to sort out an obscure bug in iCal, I corrupted my system so badly that nothing would work properly. Fiddled around for a couple of hours, then gave up: ah, sod it, let's go for the full backup - that's what ...
