Thinking of maxing out the RAM on my iMac G5 to cope better with its new
toy Leopard.
I see Crucial are selling 2 gig for £82, which is steep compared to £33
for a new iMac.  It was about £75 last month.

All my medium sized (320-500GB) external drives are being used for different
stuff so I have no-where dedicated to give to time machine.
Does it reformat the drive and do it's own thing or does it use a dmg or
folders or something on the specified drive?

Just bought, and have received, OS 10.4 DVDs on e-bay.
Just one question .....
There are two DVDs, one labeled 'Install DVD' and the other 'CPU Drop In
DVD'. What is the latter disk for?

I need a secure forum solution to run on a Mac OS X 10.5 Server, to run
alongside and compliment the built in Wiki and Blog services. It will

Always wondered why my directory of around 2,500 images which I used for
Tigers' Random Wallpaper constantly repeated images. I've seen lots of them
lots of times with only the occasional surprise.
Since Leopard, I've seen lots of different ones. Have they fixed this?

Moving from Tiger to Leopard, it would appear that the option one used
to have in the print dialogue, of choosing "Compressed PDF" (or was it

Last week I updated my ibook (g4, running Tiger.11) with the latest
security update and waited for it to restart.  And waited, and waited as
it sat on the blue screen with the spinning ring.  Would not shut down

Running 10.5.1. I'm using a couple of large images as desktop pictures
(26Mbytes each). Are they taking up that much RAM as desktop pictures?
If so, what can I use to convert them to desktop pictures that take the
minimum amount of RAM?
