Time Machine already failed!27 Oct 2007 17:21 GMT-
I went out to the shops, got back and found that TM had failed due to
'an error' during the backup.
Er, and?
Mac OS X 10.5: Unable to log in to account after an upgrade install27 Oct 2007 16:42 GMT-
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306840
Best to be aware of this. I upgraded from 10.4 but one account was
affected. It was the oldest (admin) one. The system is only a year old
but the user account has moved via various machines and OS upgrades
Woohooo!27 Oct 2007 15:45 GMT7
OK, so it arrived this morning. I like, a lot.
However, Rowland won't like the Dock, I'm not sure about this one
myself. The 3D effect when on the bottom of the screen is nice, but
pretty useless. The active blob is harder to see, but on the side of the
Latest favoured hard drives?27 Oct 2007 15:43 GMT6
I'm just looking around at the replacement 500GB drive for my G5, as a
main system unit. I usually go for Barracudas, but the latest ones seem
to be suffering with speed issues on the old G5 SATA I controllers.
So, I've been looking at alternatives, but not sure what to have faith
Leopard arrived27 Oct 2007 15:28 GMT31
So there. First post! Or something...
Catch: I'm at work, Leopard at home. Won't be installing 'til this evening.
Cheers,

Why is Linux 'faster' than OS X?27 Oct 2007 15:26 GMT12
This is not a troll, honestly, but I've notice this discrepancy and am
wondering what could be the cause.
I realise benchmarking systems is fraught with caveats and it's really
difficult to compare like with like, but this example really surprised me.
iPod Touch ordered - again.27 Oct 2007 14:43 GMT72
From Amazon this time. First time I looked (couple of weeks ago) they were
estimating 11-12 weeks. Then last week it was 4-6weeks. Now it's 'tomorrow'.
So I've ordered one. If nothing else the fact that there _will_ be 3rd party
apps at some point just pushed me that little bit I ...
Leopard Upgrade Install (faulty DVD?)27 Oct 2007 14:36 GMT4
I wonder if I got a faulty DVD, the DVD holder part of the Leopard packaging
was damaged, the disc was loose and has a few scratches.
I tried the Upgrade Install, on restart it just hung on the blue screen. So
I phoned Apple Care, after trying a safe restart and repairing the HD and
Time Machine27 Oct 2007 14:26 GMT4
Trying to get my head around it .
I frequently have a numbr of working files on my desktop that will end
up deleted. Time Machine backs up each hour - this means these files
are going to be in my backup for weeks wasting space.
Spaces - keyboard shortcuts not working?27 Oct 2007 14:26 GMT1
Here on this MacBook Pro I can press ^<arrow key> to my heart's
content, but no movement from Spaces. Fn-F8 works though, and I can't
see  anything else assigned to those shortcuts.
Working for anyone else?
I want my folders not stacks in the dock27 Oct 2007 14:22 GMT4
Does anyone know how I can make a folder in the dock of 10.5 behave
like it did under Tiger and NOT be a stack?
I'm missing the ability to right-click on a folder which used to bring
up a straight list of the contents which you could then drill down
Converter widget bug27 Oct 2007 13:48 GMT1
Amazing that I use this usually every couple of days at the very least,
and have never noticed this before. If you cut and paste the number
instead of typing it, no conversion appears.
Exact circumstance: was cut'n'pasting the unlocked iPhone cost of 945
Leopard screen saver - stunning27 Oct 2007 13:18 GMT4
Select any of the picture options (Abstract, Beach, Cosmos etc.) and
change the Display Style to Mosaic.
Pretty and impressive on my MacBook Pro!
