HP PhotoSmart printing problem24 Oct 2007 19:42 GMT-
Whenever I print in colour, my PhotoSmart 7150 puts a yellow haze on the
left and right of any black areas.

Looks like it's on:

Haven't tried it myself yet, but that's the last POP3 account I have so
it will be nice to go all-IMAP.
I hate it when hardware fails24 Oct 2007 18:55 GMT8
This has been a bit of a strange weekend for failures - first the iron
died. Then the washing machine died (tripping the power repeatedly).
Then my Airport Express died (probably as a result of the power trips).
And now one of the feet on my Matias has broken.
Netgear goes rat-a-tat-tat?24 Oct 2007 18:13 GMT2
My recently acquired Netgear WGR614 cable router seems to give a faint but
noticeable continuous 'rat-a-tat-tat'. Is this normal?

File replication24 Oct 2007 14:19 GMT17
I would like to establish if there is a process using Apple machines
which will provide an automatic replication of any new or changed
document to an 'off site' server.
This would be for multiple users saving files to a local server on the

Firewire audio glitch24 Oct 2007 13:41 GMT2
I'm using an iSight on a 1.8GHz iG5, OS 10.3.9. The video works
absolutely fine, the audio via the iSight only works intermittently.
Instead, I use the built-in mic, and that works well.
I looked in the System log, and on most sleeps and wake-ups I see:

iPod Jailbreak - list of apps anywhere?24 Oct 2007 07:46 GMT13
Let me state first off that I'm almost certainly _not_ going to Jailbreak my
iPod, despite there being no known real risk with it (unlike the iPhone).
However, that attitude might alter if I can see a list of the possible 3rd
party apps. I can't seem to find a link to them, so does ...
best way to regularly sync my User folder on two machines?24 Oct 2007 00:15 GMT4
I intend to run a Mac Mini as my home media centre, whilst using my
Macbook Pro as my main work horse during the day for photography and
emails etc. I suspect I will use Migration Asssistant to initially
copy everything that's on my MBP to the Mac Mini. After that though, I
iPod  Firewire syncing23 Oct 2007 21:40 GMT6
My old 1st gen iPod was firewire-only and worked a treat.
My new 30gb is USB. As I'm short of USB sockets on my Powerbook I
bought a cable on ebay described as "Firewire Sync & Charge Cable for
Apple iPod".

After much swapping and changing, for various reasons, I've now arrived
at the following disk layout for my machines and backups:
