iPhone price cuts06 Sep 2007 21:56 GMT5
I've just noticed the comment tucked away at the end of the BBC report from
Moscone
"The price of the iPhone with eight gigabytes of storage is being cut by
$200 to $399. The four-gigabyte model is being dropped"
Scriptable VNC clients06 Sep 2007 20:37 GMT-
Just a quick question as to whether anyone is aware of any VNC clients
that can be initiated from the command-line/ Applescript and therefore
have arguments such as external host passed to them?
Cheers,
Strange default app problem with Mail06 Sep 2007 19:35 GMT3
For some reason I can't set Mail as the default mail app. It insists on
setting MacSOUP.
I've tried clearing the .plist file, and repairing prefs, as well as
logging out/in.
World of Warcraft and iMac06 Sep 2007 16:52 GMT9
I use a PC to run World of Warcraft getting, at maximium setting, FPS
of 20 to 50 depending on complexity of the areas.
Out of interest I've tried running it on my iLamp type iMac (1.25 GHz
G4 256 MB) with  surprisingly good results all things being
New Aluminum keyboard woes06 Sep 2007 16:27 GMT40
Just picked up one of these from the Apple store. Looks great, feels
great....but has a major flaw:
The caps lock key doesn't have the same sensitivity of the rest of the
keys. You have to press it really slow in order for it to engage
Automator: Finder Plug-In?06 Sep 2007 13:16 GMT-
Probably a dumb question but, if I save an automator workflow as a Finder
Plug-In, where in the finder does it appear?
I'd normally save them as stand alone apps but I'm trying to find a way of
accessing them directly from the Finder, in the same manner as the Script
Which Mac and software for DVD/editing06 Sep 2007 11:07 GMT16
1) DVD:
I have been asked to record some of the sound for an amateur video
production, but have no way of viewing the vision material at home. (No
television and my G3s don't have DVD drives).

G3 strawberry iMac fails to boot after memory upgrade06 Sep 2007 10:29 GMT3
I was recently given a strawberry G3 iMac (266MHz), the PRAM battery
had failed so the time and date were reverting back to 1956.
I popped it open to replace the battery and thought I'd take some time
to upgrade the RAM as I had a whole pile of old SO-DIMM modules
Fan nano06 Sep 2007 09:55 GMT3
It appears to be real. 320x240 2" screen, CoverFlow...
Cheers,

Easy way to share (USB) printer without expense of print server?06 Sep 2007 09:36 GMT4
My parents are in the market for a new router (the old faithful WG834
having given up the ghost some months ago - and they're relying on a
very dodgy SpeedTouch 'flatfish' which, of course, only runs with
'doze.)
Mac Rumors: Apple Mac Rumors and News You Care About06 Sep 2007 09:34 GMT-
As promised, Apple has released iTunes 7.4. The release notes provide
details of the following changes:
With iTunes 7.4, sync your favorite music and more with the new iPod
nano (third generation), iPod classic, and iPod touch, plus create
DVDs to Hard disk based player06 Sep 2007 09:10 GMT2
I really like being able to load my CDs into iTunes, and play them
through my hi-fi, or over Airport elsewhere in the house...
Is there a product out there that would do the same for DVDs - i.e.
allow me to download/rip them onto a hard disk and them play on my TV at
Books!06 Sep 2007 08:59 GMT5
Apple's photo books are an amazingly easy way to get high-quality
printed and bound materials from the desktop to the letterbox. What's
missing is a way to integrate this service with other applications.
For example, it should be integrated into Pages. Pages isn't really up
Aperture and rasterising PDFs05 Sep 2007 22:39 GMT10
I need to get a PDF into Aperture. It's a small PDF. When Aperture
rasterises it, it does so to a fairly mean 525-pixel image. That's
rubbish.
My workaround is to get the PDF into Preview, create a custom page size
