When I convert an AIF file to AAC (M4A) in iTunes, the resulting file
is much fainter than the original. And no wonder. When I look at the
Summary tab for the AAC file, I see that Volume shows -9.9dB.
How can I persuade iTunes to leave the volume level alone?

At boot my iMac is set up to connect to several network volumes. It does
this OK most of the time, but every so often it does this but doesn't
put an icon in Finder. If I Command+K to connect, it says "You are
already connected to this server volume".

How do i get a list of users connected to my computer, afp over tcp?
OS9 I'd just look at the users and groups Control Panel, but I can't see
any equivalent in Network Utlitity or Netinfo.
