A newbie question04 Aug 2007 05:35 GMT14
Hey guys, yes I am a newbie to the newer versions of Mac OSX.  Please
be nice to me even if I ask an easy question.  Everytime I start up
the computer, Solitaire XL and the main dictionary start up at random
for no reason at all.  I looked in the Preferences part of the

If you are offered a powerbook G4 for sale with one of the following

Extended Keyboard II03 Aug 2007 22:58 GMT9
Disaster. Pint of water into venerable Apple Extended Keyboard II. It's
drying out in the server room at the moment, and I'm stuck with this
hideous USB keyboard (Keys too wide, no feel). If the EKII is dead, does
anyone know a place I can get some more?
Sony PRS-500 Reader03 Aug 2007 22:19 GMT24
I would really love one of these and I know this has been mentioned on
here before, but I cant seem to find someone who sells them in the UK
despite Googling around. I know there is always the option to import
one, but I dont want to do that unless I have to. I am also concerned
Filing mails and other documents03 Aug 2007 22:11 GMT5
We have a small business using macs in the office.  6 people, OS X
server 10.3.9.  Naturally we need to file all our incoming and outgoing
correspondence.  Each year there are roughly 200 new customers for whom
we have to work out where to put documents.  For letters, ...

Leopard and multi-architectures03 Aug 2007 20:11 GMT11
Hi, my first posting after many month reading this useful group.
I have a few Macs: a G3 iMac[1], a G3 iBook, a G4 iMac and a G4
PowerBook.  I am about to purchase one or two new models, probably an
iBook and a Mini, which are bound to have Intel chips - never before
Yikes!  'kill -9' not working - iTunes & software update03 Aug 2007 18:26 GMT3
Darn.  iTunes is frozen solid and will not quit, force quit, kill -9,
and some other kills I found on the web.  (Kill 9  found in the missing
manual, then googled).
Trouble is, I'm in the middle of software update with the security

My ibook right speaker doesn't work (earphones don't fix the problem)03 Aug 2007 14:35 GMT3
If I plug headphones, earphones or an cable to play sound through my
hi-fi I only get a left channel. Curiously, only the left speaker on
the ibook works.
This was all fine a couple of weeks ago, it's just happened the other

For Safari 3 beta, and there's also Security Update 007.
Separately (via iTunes) there's an update for something called an
iPhone - has anyone heard of that?

Dead iMac G4 or G5 monitors & 15" Powerbook03 Aug 2007 10:58 GMT-
I hope you don't mind me posting this but I spoke to another user of
this group who directed me towards your forum.
I am producing a music video next week which requires a couple of dead
iMac G4 or G5 monitors and a 15" powerbook as props. The macs do not
