The new iMacs10 Aug 2007 20:50 GMT-
Had a play with the new iMacs in the Apple Store whilst they finished
repairing one of the iBooks..
The screen takes some getting used to, its like looking into a mirror
spent about 20 mins on the 24" model and it still felt weird...
New to me10 Aug 2007 20:09 GMT9
I just discovered that if you double-click and drag over text, it
selects by word instead of by character. Awesome.
So, anyone care to make me look stupid by pointing out how many decades
that has been possible?

AppleTV question about streaming10 Aug 2007 18:03 GMT4
At the moment you cannot stream photos to ATV, if and when Apple solve this
problem, will it be through software or hardware. The reason I ask is just
after buying the 40gb they bought out the 160. Now what I don't want if I
buy the 160, is for them to bring out a new model that ...
Spherical speakers10 Aug 2007 17:53 GMT14
I've just been given a pair of Apple speakers, small clear plastic
spheres about 10cm diameter. They've got a USB attachment. What are they
called? Where can I find details on them?
And does anyone have a spare cover for them?!

mp3 to amr conversion10 Aug 2007 16:13 GMT13
Can anyone help me, I need to convert an mp3 file to amr format for use
as a ringtone on a sony ericsson phone. The phone a k700i will only
allow mp3 files with drm to be set as ringtones (apparently), so I cant
use the Captain Pugwash theme like I have on other less fussy phones. I
New keyboard function keys10 Aug 2007 16:12 GMT3
I've just got one of the new Mac Minis along with one of the new wired
keyboards, and none of the function keys for brightness, volume etc
seem to do anything, except that F9 - F11 do expose' things, even
though they're labelled fast forward, mute, decrease and increase
Keyboard quest (for people who care about such things)10 Aug 2007 15:54 GMT4
As it's the silly season, I'm playing with a few keyboards. At the
moment, I'm using a Das Keyboard 2, which apparently uses the same
microswitches as found in the original IBM PS/2 keyboard.
It's rather nice, and the lack of keycaps isn't the obstacle you'd
nyone remember that design app?10 Aug 2007 14:27 GMT2
There was talk of a design app here months (many?) ago. One of those
design-a-room/house/property things. I /think/ it may have been an
online app - but my memory is hazy.. Anyone?
Cheers ... Mark
iPhoto 0810 Aug 2007 14:16 GMT1
I've got a G4 iBook and was wondering whether the new features of
iPhoto justify the upgrade alone? I use iPhoto quite extensively...
Thanks

Logon script for all users at startup?10 Aug 2007 13:08 GMT1
I have some iMacs that are connected to a Windows (AD) network.  I've managed
to get them to recognise usernames and passwords from the network, and now I
want to run an (apple)script at logon to connect to assorted network
resources.
iLife '08 Question10 Aug 2007 12:45 GMT5
When I bought both a Macbook and a Macbook Pro in the past couple of
months, they each came bundled with iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, iWeb, and
GarageBand when I first turned them on.
But I see they've just announced a new version of iLife 08:
Defrag or Similar on the Mac?10 Aug 2007 11:46 GMT5
With my PC's, I'd defragment the hard drives every so often. I can't
seem to find this option on the Mac - is there any similar operation I
could/should be doing to keep everything working efficiently?
I've just been installing lots of applications after getting a new
