| FAT32 external | 16 Aug 2007 20:08 GMT | 7 |
I need to be able to share files between this G5 Quad and various Windows machines running XP in another location. At the moment I've got an external 320GB FireWire & USB drive which I've formatted FAT32. Is this sensible? The files are mainly large video

| Changing file icons from Word to Pages | 16 Aug 2007 19:21 GMT | - |
I've selected a .doc file (created with Microsoft Word) and, in Get Info, told it to open all documents like this with Pages. Rather than all the file icons changing to the Pages one, some have now turned to the blank page (unknown file type?) icon, and the others have remained

| AppleWorks | 16 Aug 2007 02:00 GMT | 17 |
As far as I can see Apple has dropped AppleWorks completely - presumably intending it to be replaced by iWorks. If so it's a pity since AW included a database application and iW doesn't, as far as I know. My sister is looking for something which she can use to catalogue her book

| Newsgroup PAYG access.. | 15 Aug 2007 15:49 GMT | 1 |
Just looking at the Virginmedia forum on www.thinkbroadband.co.uk, and saw a couple of NG recommendations (cheaper than Giganews, but lower retention): http://usenet-news.net/ (100 day binary retention)
