My .Mac account seems to have decided I have no contacts anymore.
Has anyone else had it claim to sync to a laptop with over a hundred
contacts (pBook G4, claims to have synced). Then sync to a desktop where it
deleted every contact, except the registered .Mac account, i.e. Just me.

Another thread made my idea-bell ting, yielding a possible answer
for a potential future problem.
As houses start to be insulated better, it seems likely we'll see
greater use of that expanded plastic sheeting, clad on both sides

What is the current state of play with OCR software and (cheap)
scanners? Would I be able to use such a combination to convert a
physical book into a text file of the contents?
I'm thinking of doing this to a limited number of my favourite books

Just been given a brand new Dell MFP 1815dn - laser printer, copier,
fax scanner. Says it's Mac compatible but virtually no software except
printer and Twain drivers.
No problem using it as a copier or printing from from apps in OSX 10.3.9

It's like this: I use a Classic app for zapping resource forks when I
need to, but it's a bit of a pain waiting for Classic to start up.  I
can't find a MacOS X native app to do the job.
