Getting alt key codes on the Mac01 Aug 2007 00:27 GMT23
In all the time I have been using the Mac I have never had to use
this, but I remember I occasionally did it in Windows: I want the key
code combination to put in a character. For example, for a £ sign I
just press shift-3 on my keyboard, but I should also be able to press

Launchbar 4.330 Jul 2007 23:22 GMT1
I've just spotted that Launchbar 4.3 is now available. It seems they
skipped 4.2 although it was (available as a beta for a while) because
of the number of new features. The most obvious difference is is a
Leopard feel to the bar itself.
VPN: Anyone know how do do this?.....30 Jul 2007 23:16 GMT10
Basically I want to redisplay my work laptop screen onto my Mac in a window.
At work we use a well-locked down setup - WinXP, Nortel VPN and Tunnelguard
so far I've been unable to use remote desktop to get at it, or even VNC.
TCP-IP is totally tunnelled and guarded!
MacBook failing to boot30 Jul 2007 22:58 GMT1
Panicked phone call from daughter today. MacBook booting to blue screen
and freezing. Talked her through the PRAM reset thing but to no avail.
Well it improved the situation a little because the MacBook was at least
now giving the startup chime but still freezing at a blue screen.

Anyone know if this little dogie would work in a PowerBook G4 400MHz?
<http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/48669>
And if it would work, would it provide the full 480Mbps of USB2?
MacHeist: Anyone heard anything from Pixelmator at all?30 Jul 2007 21:56 GMT2
Just wondering if my spam filters might have been overagressive again -
has anyone heard anything regarding the Pixelmator beta? It was going
to be end of July as far as I knew, and that's not too long now.
Cheers,

New iMacs30 Jul 2007 09:44 GMT9
OK, I'm coming over to the darkside and I'm having an Intel Mac. Imac. Top
of the range. Only PPC to date in this house...
Trouble is I want it now. I'm on my second Leffe and an old iMac might do.
Apple Store UK is in my favourites, and I've bought things I don't want
