Yikes. With the ebay time fast approaching for the resale of my Power
Mac, I decided to erase the disks securely and put the fresh Tiger
install on.
I've started with the 160gig internal disk  - it wants around 23 hours

I've got one of the early Intel iMacs.  The 20" model.  Latest version
of OS installed, all the updates, etc.

I've been asked to make a lengthy audio recording (spoken word, similar
to an audio book).
I'll be doing it with an intel iMac, in a quiet, non-echoy room.
Any advice for microphone setup, software etc?

Symptoms:
Airport says it is connected to the router, but no IP address.

I have a wifi network in my house, all computers have an IP assigned by the
router 192.168.1.x etc etc.
I would like to connect 2 of the computers together via ethernet so they can
transfer files faster. So I've connected Computer A(PC) to computer B(Mac)

Anyone ever experience problems with this printer refusing to send
information to an A3 printer tray? The settings on the mac seem
correct. We are running Mac OSX. Printing from a Pc to this network
printer works fine.

Tell me to bugger off and RTFM by all means, but how does one get live
audio into Quicktime Streaming Server for broadcast?
Does the server have to be directly connected to the audio input device?

A client has a number of files on floppy disks out of a Sharp FontWriter (no
sniggering at the back!), that he'd like converted and made Mac-readable.

I've just used the queuing feature of Handbrake for the first time -
ripping episodes of the Goodies from the DVDs. It's spent 40 minutes or
more doing all the ripping, and then at the end...nothing. I can't find
any files anywhere that it might have produced. Certainly they're ...
