Mac advice please24 Mar 2007 16:39 GMT90
Please excuse my ignorance about Mac's, I know nothing about them.
I've just seen a test on the Gadget Show between a traditional PC and
a Mac laptop and the Mac came out top by far. I have only ever had
experiance of PC's so can someone explain the advantages and
Happy Birthday for Saturday24 Mar 2007 13:30 GMT16
Okay, look. I've kicked the damn thing, and that did no good. So I had to
get my hands all oily adjusting the flanges, and finally I persuaded the
Birthday-o-Matic to vomit forth its ramblings a couple of days early.
Normally it refuses to unless I'm not around to tend it when it's ...
BT Total Broadband - OK for Macs?24 Mar 2007 11:26 GMT10
So I'm moving to a village with no NTL/Virgin cable (YMMV but I've had
an excellent Broadband service from them over the years) and am tempted
between BT Total with their home hub thing and maybe Sky's See Speak
Surf offering.
Bootcamp and external Drives24 Mar 2007 10:22 GMT7
I am going away for a while and I do not want to load Windows on my MacBook
but was wondering if Bootcamp would work if I put XP on an external firewire
drive.
Any thoughts?

iBook HD - wake noise?24 Mar 2007 02:33 GMT10
What is the noise that I hear as my iBook wakes from sleep/starts up? It
certainly makes more noise than my old G3 iBook. For the life of me the only
thing I can think of it resembles is a car revving..!

Poor Quality MP3 Playback on iPhone24 Mar 2007 02:27 GMT20

Genealogists24 Mar 2007 00:07 GMT27
I know there are some other amateur genealogists here... Reunion just
got a major upgrade to 9.0, and is now a Universal Cocoa app.

Sir Elton John's rant [slightly OT]23 Mar 2007 23:31 GMT-
hi guys how's it going?
Elton John has been in the news moaning about people criticising gays.

" Voice for homosexuals: A hero in the fight for gay rights"
completely OT: - Mobile asking for 'reauthorisation code'23 Mar 2007 22:44 GMT7
I picked up my phone this morning to be greeted by a 'phone restricted'
message (the phone in question is a Nokia 6288 - completely useless as far as
synching is concerned, but that's the least of my worries at the moment...)
Pressing the middle button replaced that with 'please ...
Skype23 Mar 2007 22:38 GMT1
Does using a headset make skype Phone calls better for both ends of the
conversation?  Using just the iMac mike it seems to be rubbish at the
other end, but good here, which makes it a bit pointless...
Cheers
10.4.9 broke sleep23 Mar 2007 21:17 GMT18
I always used to use Cmd-opt-eject to sleep my PB, but since 10.4.9 this
doesn't work any more. Am I the only one affected like this?
