Screen calibration13 Mar 2007 06:42 GMT8
My Powerbook screen is dull in comparison to the external Dell LCD. I
don't think it's worn out as it was replaced last year. I've tried using
the calibration routines in OSX but it's still dull.
So what about these dangly things you hang over the screen and plug into
Wireless File Sharing13 Mar 2007 06:35 GMT8
Every few months I try and set things up to exchange files between my
own machines wirelessly. eg. From my iMac to my partner's Powerbook.
I can never make it work, and I end up just giving up in shame and
self-hatred and using a USB stick instead.
apple and home media solutions13 Mar 2007 00:23 GMT3
I'd like to design my house network to integrate Apple(s), TV, HIFI/
Dolby surround, so that i can download/rip music of video and then
access it (easily) from the TV and watch it or listen to it also with
Dolby surround if the case, possibly using apple also as media
Freako wake-up12 Mar 2007 21:40 GMT-
I have my iG5/10.3.9 set go to sleep when I hit the power button on the
back. To wake it, I have to click a mouse button- moving the mouse
doesn't do it.
And that's the way I like it.

9.2 playing Google vids?12 Mar 2007 19:34 GMT7
I asked recently how an eMac running  plain 9.2 (ie used as an
electric typewriter for the last 5 years now using the net more) would
handle a .mp3 if I emailed one to it.
Well, Dad couldn't seem to handle it (I did at least get a reply
Nice day12 Mar 2007 17:49 GMT20
Went to see our new house with our builder; it's a 1890s Victorian
terraced house, you want cracks and dislocation? We got 'em... Along
with water in the cellar. But it's all clear and normal and thanks to
the continuing miracle of money, it will work fine. We love it. But
Odd little Safari bug12 Mar 2007 17:08 GMT4
Safari appears to have a bug which under certain circumstances causes
the character identified by a :first-letter pseudo-classes not to be
resized until the page is refreshed.

Which dSLR?12 Mar 2007 16:33 GMT72
About three years ago, my Praktica AM-1 started falling apart, so I
thought I'd get a digital camera, and bought a Fuji S7000.
I'm sure it's a very nice camera, but we don't seem to use it much. We
certainly haven't managed to take many pictures as good as the ones we
Apple Training (UK) Question12 Mar 2007 16:16 GMT-
Like all of you I don't really have time to commit to spending weeks
out on a training course. (especially as I'm stuck in Windows world,
and the boss may not go for a 2 week training to learn apple server OS).
Anyway, anyone any recomendations as to a good set of books to self

Paging Eclipse users - any problems lately?12 Mar 2007 13:03 GMT25
I have spent a few days wondering about the state of my broadband.
Nothing positive at first, just a general feeling of sluggishness in
various protocols.
Yesterday it got really bad, page loading was slow, some taking over 2

Tricks to impress Windows users12 Mar 2007 02:45 GMT196
What features of OS X or Mac apps would be worth showcasing to impress
a dyed-in-the-wool Windows user? This is someone who is a techie and
probably VERY familiar with Vista so trivial stuff like Dock
magnification, Dashboard or window minimisation just won't cut it.
