Today I have mostly been......30 Mar 2007 18:55 GMT-
Completely reorganising my hard drives. In light of yesterdays kernel
panic (without a crash log), I decided to abandon the RAID 0 setup for
now.
What I had:
Cursed (rant)30 Mar 2007 18:28 GMT25
I hate Apple machines. I really, really do.
That's it, really. Nothing new; it's just that the wake from sleep issues
I'm experiencing were *not* solved by my basic troubleshooting. Now I
have to go down the route of 'proper' troubleshooting - I'm wiping the

simple onscreen piano-like program30 Mar 2007 17:59 GMT-
I quite often need to tune instruments with lots of strings.  What
I'm using at the moment is GarageBand's on-screen keyboard, but it's
a bit of a pain: the keyboard has to be scrolled to get the bass end
in, the program doesn't remember I want to display it, and it takes
Sound Studio v CD Spin Doctor30 Mar 2007 17:48 GMT6
Any opinions out there as to which is the better
package for Vinyl to CD?  Any other well-regarded
candidates?  I'm looking in particular for good
scratch/pop editing capability, and want to produce
D-Link DWL-G12230 Mar 2007 14:52 GMT6
I have just purchased one of these WiFi USB adapters, but am having
problems actually using it. The manual on the disc is for PC - anyone
know if there is a Mac user-manual? I can't see anything on the
website...
Vista, Boot Camp and Parallels30 Mar 2007 13:36 GMT2
I've just installed Vista onto my Macbook using Boot Camp and I want to get Parallels to be able to use it but when I try to get Parallels to use the Boot Camp Vista partition I am unable to select it.  I am guessing that I need to install something in to Vista to allow Parallels ...
DVD to iPod on Mac (Resolved)30 Mar 2007 13:30 GMT-
Hi, I recently wrote about having trouble getting DVD on to iPod using
Handbrake.  iTunes wouldnt accept the MPEG 4 file.
I am pleased to say the problem is resolved, I was still using
QuickTime 6.  As soon as I upgraded to QT7 it worked perfectly.
Automated creation of animated GIF30 Mar 2007 13:07 GMT18
I need to animate a GIF - but the only thing that needs to change is its
colour. I have FireWorks, FreeHand and Photoshop Elements at my
disposal. I can do all kinds of movement animation things with the first
two, but I can't find a way to produce a changing colour.
Burning a disc image to disc30 Mar 2007 13:02 GMT6
I have a couple - well several actually - disc images which I want to
burn onto CD so I can then wipe the HD.
I can bun them as disc images onto disc no problem.
What I would like to do is mount them and then burn the contents to disc.
Getting avi to the TV...30 Mar 2007 12:44 GMT6
I have a load of avi files which play perfectly in VLC, but which QuickTime
Player 7.1.5 refuses to run...
I'd like to play them through my big screen TV, but sadly can't use the new
Apple iTV box as the files won't play in iTunes (did I say that they won't
Thinking of Changing G5 for iMac30 Mar 2007 11:54 GMT17
I am toying with the idea of selling my G5 dualcore beast and going for
a 20" imac.
I have checked ebay and the prices seem to vary for G5 although my big
fear is postage.
Virgin Media router30 Mar 2007 10:56 GMT10
After several years fine service, I'm moving from Plusnet to Virgin
Media and, as I understand it, my ADSL modem / router will be redundant.
Does anyone here have a recommendation for a good, low cost wireless
cable router?
