Good customer service experience16 Mar 2007 23:15 GMT7
I bought a MacBook Pro two weeks ago from Western Computer in Bristol.
When I bought it, I asked whether I could bring it back if I didn't get
on with the screen (matte, not glosy; wanted to see it in direct
sunlight). I was told they had a 14 day satisfaction guarantee; "if you

Quicksilver - are you using it?16 Mar 2007 20:28 GMT10
Only just downloaded and instaled Quicksilver - first impressions are that it's
very powerful, if a little intimidating at first.
So - who else is using it, and how? Any tips?

First it was fd, now eBuyer has gone "funny" with Safara16 Mar 2007 19:45 GMT25
Dear All
Now it's eBuyer's site that doesn't display properly with Safari (2.0.4) (as
well as fd). www.ebuyer.com, if you have a moment.
I've written to fd and got the following reply:
iMac / PC wireless network question16 Mar 2007 19:37 GMT4
I'm looking to set up a wireless network and I'm a bit lost.
My PC has a 2MB connection to Virgin Media(Telewest) via a DSL Surfboard
SB3100 cable modem. I also have an imac G3 400mhz with an ethernet socket
that wants to share the internet access.
Msg Files16 Mar 2007 19:04 GMT-
Is there any easy way to get Outlook 2003 Msg files into Apple mail or
converted to a unix mbox.
I've tried Emailchemy with no success and found a Perl script but that
one needed too many packages installed to be viable as an 'easy way'.
Kernel panic16 Mar 2007 16:11 GMT30
Been using a mac for around 4 months and just had my first kernel panic,
wondered what the hell the black curtain descending down my screen was,
until the message popped up to reboot. Doing nothing different to normal
when it occured. How often can I expect this to happen.
Panther on a beige G316 Mar 2007 14:33 GMT6

Stuff I can find on the web has way too many maybes for me to
feel safe trying it.

Mystery app using webcam, how to find?16 Mar 2007 11:41 GMT22
We are trying to use iChat or aMSN's webcam features but are told
another program is using our G5 iMac's webcam. Darkroom reports a
similar problem. This can happen with only one user logged in and no
webcam using Dashboard widgets. A trawl through Activity Monitor reveals

UPS + 10.416 Mar 2007 11:39 GMT6
Hi, Can anyone recommend a brand of Uninterruptible power supply that
works well with OSX 10.4?
I'm thinking of the ones that have a usb port and software to shut down
the mac cleanly if the UPS kicks in.

Spaces16 Mar 2007 10:48 GMT29
I'm having an argument with folks at work here, about whether names
should have spaces in them. It concerns the names for circuits we are
provisioning, and there are proposals for things like:
