MacMini Heat Question - might be a dumb question23 Mar 2007 18:22 GMT4
I have moved from an ImacG5 to a MacMini(Intel) and 20" cinema display. I am
very pleased with both.
The mac mini sits on top of an aluminium DVD burner, good heat conductor I
guess as well. In use the mini can produce a lot of heat through its rubber
PCI or PCIx?23 Mar 2007 17:38 GMT5
I've been asked by a potential buyer if my G5 Dual 2.0 is the model
with PCI or PCIx slots. I think it is the former since when I bought
it I fitted a PCI 3 port firewire card at least I think it was a pci.
But how can you tell for sure? And how can you demonstrate it using
G4 Mini Problem23 Mar 2007 16:38 GMT6
On startup a G4 Mini has been chiming normally and gets as far as a
blank grey screen then stops. On connecting up an external  firewire
hard drive and rebooting it started normally off the internal drive.
Also, for a while prior to the grey screen incident,  the pointer has
ripping vinyl, get old LPs onto CD, how?23 Mar 2007 15:08 GMT74
What is the best way of going about getting my old record collection
onto my Mac so that I can burn either CDs or an MP3 DVD?
I keep seeing stuff advertised for Windows, and though some of the USB
turntable hardware may work on a Mac I'm a bit worried about finding

Open Office is a fully licensed alternative software to Microsoft Office23 Mar 2007 14:23 GMT6
Don't be fooled by illegal copies of Microsoft Office selling for 49$
- 69$. These are not licensed copies and could end up costing you more
than $100,000 in copyright fines or willful infringement. Open Office
is a fully licensed alternative software to Microsoft Office. Get the
Archive and Install23 Mar 2007 13:29 GMT-
I have to perform some major surgury on a iMac.  If I was to do this,
what is the process of getting the archived user back to normally.  Do
I simply just drag the users home folder etc over?
Thanks
Power problem on MacBook Pro23 Mar 2007 12:27 GMT3
I've noticed my MacBook Pro starting to put itself to sleep, no
warning, when the battery hits around 27-30%. It's immediately able to
wake again, but quite often when I do the battery reads 0%. However the
machine will happily keep running for quite a while - the battery
Virtual PC23 Mar 2007 12:22 GMT15
I've discovered I need access to IE7 to test websites.
I have a copy of Virtual PC 6.1 which came with the Cube. It has XP Pro
included.
Question is, is this any good?
10.3.9 server - home directories on flash drives?23 Mar 2007 10:36 GMT4
Currently I have users' home directories on the server.  Works well in
that people can hot-desk and get their own desktop wherever they sit.
But performance isn't stellar - I guess because each and every cache
access etc is going up and down the network.  Plus there are disc ...

iCal synchronisation state-of-the art?23 Mar 2007 08:35 GMT28
What's the latest on synchronising data entered by multiple users (on
multiple machines) in iCal (so that a certain calendar can be edited
simultaneously by different people)?
Last time I had a serious look at this the closest one could get was via
command-escape not working for Front Row?23 Mar 2007 04:11 GMT1
Just tried command-escape on the MacBook Pro, 10.4.9. It's not bringing
Front Row up - any ideas about where to start looking?
