Could Apple just licence M$'s DRM?06 Feb 2007 10:39 GMT58
I've just had a (rare) thought...
This recent issue with the BBC's pending iPlayer thing, and how they're
planning on getting into bed with Microsoft; probably to be closely

.Mac backup vs iSync06 Feb 2007 09:53 GMT2
What's the difference between using Apple's Backup application to back
up contacts, calendars, bookmarks etc. to .Mac vs just using iSync to
do the same thing? Any advantage to using Backup for this?

Is this because they are checking out how well try-before-you-buy works
Parallels Transporter - how did it do that?05 Feb 2007 23:00 GMT8
I've just used Parallels Transporter for the first time, to move a
VMWare image over to Parallels. This VMWare image had full drive
encryption on it (not Vista, a third-party thing for XP), yet it
successfully read the disk and, more worryingly, transferred it over

I think Bird Flu was caused by gays
We all know that's where HIV comes from
I think gays have been up to no good.
Oz Mac spotting #105 Feb 2007 19:40 GMT-
On the harbourside at Manly yesterday. Some bronzed bloke with a white
MacBook sitting on the quayside carrying on a video iChat with his
family "back home", over the WiFi network from his hotel across the

Burning a PC-compatible CD05 Feb 2007 19:03 GMT3
Are Finder-created CDs compatible with Windows? I've been asked to burn
a copy of iTunes and Quicktime for someone that only has dial-up access.

Macbook Pro screen dims05 Feb 2007 17:16 GMT4
I have a Macbook Pro 17" C2D, and on the odd occasion the screen dims

remote editing with TextWrangler05 Feb 2007 14:43 GMT1
I'm using Textwrangler to edit remote files over ssh (actually over a
VPN as well, but I don't think that's relevant).
Problem is that every time I save, I have to re-enter the passphrase. I
was previously using emacs in tramp mode, which doesn't require that.
