iWeb: Using the photo page/slideshow template12 Feb 2007 14:44 GMT5
I've been using iWeb to create a simple web site but need to put a few pages
of photos on the site.
iWeb contains a photo page/slideshow template but I can't work out how to
import my pictures onto it.  They just seem to overlay the sample images

2 programmes total 4.6gig won't fit but it is soooo close. why of why
does reducing the quality not help. Surely Toast 8 should be able to
compress the video a little to make it fit ?

Roar!12 Feb 2007 11:07 GMT9
Growl seems pretty cool - does anyone here use it for anything interesting?
So far I've just switched iChat and Entourage over to notifying me via
Growl, but I guess there's lots more stuff you /could/ do with it.

DVD regions12 Feb 2007 00:51 GMT7
Is there a way to read what region a particular DVD is restricted to
running in?
My son's just been given a DVD which says "region 4" all over it (7.2
GB of the [offensive word deleted] Wiggles) but it plays correctly on
The new Wireless 'N' 8011n? (after 'b' and 'g')12 Feb 2007 00:47 GMT-
In PC World I noticed some crafty marketing, with companies like
Belkin & Netgear making products like:

Logic Express/Ableton style freeware?12 Feb 2007 00:28 GMT5
Got a mate looking for freeware for his son, of the Logic
Express/Ableton/Reason type. Obviously not looking for anything too
high-falutin', but needs to run on a G3 iBook 700MHz - any thoughts?

Enumerating serial ports12 Feb 2007 00:22 GMT3
I'm writing an application in python which uses a serial port (to
communicate with a telescope mount, as it happens), via the pySerial
module. I'd like to be able to list the serial ports so the user can
select one, rather than them having to type in the name. I've found a
How to break a Mac?11 Feb 2007 23:20 GMT32
Odd question, I know. I won't bore you with the details, but I have a
friend who needs to "break" a G4 iMac before it's given to someone else.
Anything hardware-related is out of the question, tho I have suggested
partially unplugging an IDE cable.
Dutch join anti-iTMS stupidity11 Feb 2007 23:11 GMT575

No surprise that if there's a stupid bandwagon rolling around that the
Dutch should be leaping into the first carriage.
The logic of these arguments amazes me. Firstly, it's true that an iTMS

Apple Legacy Product Manuals11 Feb 2007 23:11 GMT3
I know there are some people here with old(er) Apple products - you might
find this useful:

Need to get broadband.  What's sensible?11 Feb 2007 23:11 GMT401
Okay.  ISDN is going at the end of February.  I need to get something
sorted out soon or I'll have no phone line in March.
The basic plan is go for a BT broadband connection to begin with, 'cos
they'll fit it for free (but £50 to go back to POTS!).
the dread AV software11 Feb 2007 23:11 GMT30
So, I am thinking sooner or later we *will* be subject to an
attack...people who do run AV software, what do you run and does it
affect your daily existence?

Jobs speaks on DRM11 Feb 2007 23:11 GMT15
This is pretty unusual.. Apple has published an essay by their CEO on
DRM and iTunes and those pesky Europeans.
