Cinema Display prices19 Feb 2007 10:42 GMT17
I've been thinking of adding a 2nd 20" Display to my setup, I currently have
a 20" ACD. Looking at other brands, Apples asking price of £529.99 is quite
ridiculous given the competition. You can buy a Samsung or Philips panel
with better specs for under £200, with a 3 year ...
Software updates.....19 Feb 2007 10:31 GMT-
While we're in the update advisory mode, users of ClamXav, Carbon Copy
Cloner and Adobe Camera Raw will find updated software out there.
Significantly is the update to CCC, it's now at V3b4, and it does proper
scheduling, and can do selective backups.
Bluetooth graphics tablet [Wacom Graphire 4] - £19019 Feb 2007 07:42 GMT6
Not content with the number of toys I have for my MacBook Pro, I
headed down to MicroAnvika (a shop in London) to purchase a Wacom
tablet for £75
However, once I was there I spotted a bluetooth graphics tablet for
FTP Transfer Sites18 Feb 2007 22:40 GMT5
Does anyone know of any UK-based FTP transfer sites or anything similar
for transferring large files?
I used to use passmyfile but this is (I think) based in Hong Kong and I
need something in the Uk to comply with the 2002 Export Control Bill.
Totally [OT] but funny - what to do if watching 'Troy' later this week18 Feb 2007 20:38 GMT-
If possible, watch it while reading this:

Rather funny. She has a few other 'Films in Fifteen Minutes' available
(her take on 'Van Helsing' is rather good) and a book.
osx mail18 Feb 2007 19:37 GMT61
I am using mail 2.1.1 on osx  10.4.8, I recently set up some extra mail
boxes. The problem I have now is that the mail icon in the dock only
displays the number of unread messages in my
MacBook battery - sudden death18 Feb 2007 17:59 GMT15
Yesterday, a happy-go-lucky battery reliably powering its MacBook host.
Today, a pointless waste of space providing no power whatsoever.
Caz's MacBook battery has suddenly and spectacularly failed. It was
providing full (99% anyway) charge and has been doing for ages, then it
Bentalls Apple Store18 Feb 2007 16:38 GMT100
The old Lego shop [1] now has a black painted front, a huge Apple logo
on it, and "Opening Soon" written underneath :-)
Plenty of workman-type sounds (drinking tea, etc) from inside too...
Cheers,
MacBook Pro cack performance pt2...18 Feb 2007 16:37 GMT21
In case anyone is interested, my older Core Duo 2.17Ghz wot had the
faulty RAM slot has now been replaced with a brand spanking new Core 2
Duo MBP. RAM has been bumped to 2Gb. And guess what? Performance is
still less than fabulous. In fact, just like the previous machine I

Why oh why18 Feb 2007 07:23 GMT7
... do we need a 9.2MB update just because America is changing its
rules for daylight savings time?  The entire contents of
/usr/share/zoneinfo/US is only 48kB.

OK, I'm well behind the bleeding edge curve here. But I bought my first
iPod this week, an 80Gb thingy. It's astounded me. I've used various MP3
players before including trying to struggle with an iPaq as an MP3/video
player for the last year (don't bother). But the iPod is so far ...
Power card on the 20" Cinema Display17 Feb 2007 20:03 GMT2
Is there an extension cable available for the power connecter on an
Apple cinema display? I mean the connecter that comes down from the
joint DVI/USB/firewire/power bit, not the plug going to the converter
itself.
Slow DivX17 Feb 2007 18:53 GMT6
It's taken 9.5hrs to burn a Divx from a 1.85gb mpeg using Toast7  on an
iBook 1.3  Tiger with 512mb . Is this par for the course?
Cheers
Richard
