Reset display prefs28 Feb 2007 17:55 GMT2
A little while ago I managed to recalibrate my display. I'd now like
it to go back to how it was from a brand-new OS X install; does anyone
which which preference files I need to delete?

Mac migration28 Feb 2007 17:46 GMT17
I want to move my data from one mac to another. In the past I've just
done a straight copy from one machine to another but, there are two
snags to this; firstly it has resulted in a great pile of stuff being
ported over each time [and as this has been going on since the early
Recording system sound28 Feb 2007 17:14 GMT7
What's the best tool to record system sounds. Not the microphone and not line in. I have installed soundflower
and have audacity and tried to record using audacity but it didn't work. Has anyone successfully done this?
Thanks
macbook pro and 3g phone compatability on ?tmobile28 Feb 2007 15:40 GMT5
I'd like to use my macbook pro (with express card slot, not pc card)
with 3g data.  From what I've read so far I'd be better off doing this
using a 3g phone as a bluetooth modem rather than getting an expresscard
modem (which wouldn't allow normal phone  use anyway)
PB 12" Battery28 Feb 2007 15:40 GMT5
I have one, does one of you lovely people need one at a fair price?
it's brand new, sent in replacement for a supposedly dodgy one last
year. Never made it into the PB due to my kittens weeing in, and
killing, the PB.
network over mains, recommendations please28 Feb 2007 15:22 GMT2
Has anyone used one of the mains network thingys on a Mac. Many seem to
be USB based at least for setup which I assume will make them Windows
only.
I need to connect my twins iMac(s) 400mhz both running 10.2.8 for games

Can Apple make Mail rules?28 Feb 2007 14:16 GMT6
My wife has just found a new Mail.app rule, that she didn't create. She
says there is a new rule for "Apple news", which looks for a whole raft
of from addresses such as "enews@apple.com", and colours them blue.
If Apple are creating Mail rules remotely, this smacks of a little too
Macbook Pro28 Feb 2007 14:04 GMT5
I've been looking at the refurb store and dithering...
I'm sure that there was some discussion about the early MacBooks &
Macbook Pros getting hot and some mention that since the Core 2 Duos
this is less noticeable but despite a google I can't seem to find it

iTunes's role in the Hatto controversy28 Feb 2007 12:46 GMT5
I was interested to read that suspicions in the Hatto affair were first
aroused when iTunes identified a Hatto CD as being by someone quite
different.

Rogue disk mounted on desktop, won't eject28 Feb 2007 11:23 GMT8
I mounted a (duff, it turns out) NTFS-formatted PC laptop hard drive via USB
on my MacBook yesterday.  The icon for it appeared on the desktop.  I then
dismounted it by dragging it to the wastebin, and it disappeared, so I
unplugged it.
Airport Extreme - mixing speeds28 Feb 2007 10:09 GMT5
Let's pretend I have a wireless modem that runs on 802.11b, one laptop
capable of 802.11g and another capable of 802.11n. I might expect guest
laptops of any speed.
If I were to add an Airport Extreme to this setup, connected wirelessly
Funny Elements 228 Feb 2007 10:02 GMT-
No matter how often I install Elements 2 on this Mac at work, it won't
install the default items (default swatches etc). At home, however, on
the Mini there, no problem! In the end I had to dig into the package at
home, zip up the folder with the default files, e-mail it to ...
