Solaris on a Mac22 Nov 2006 11:14 GMT16
So I've heard that OpenSolaris will boot on a MacBook Pro, and I find
myself wanting a workstation, and I also find myself preferring Solaris
to Linux (Mac OS X isn't really an option, I'd prefer a 'usual' BSD to
Solaris except that dtrace would be a great boon - the kind of work ...

is by restarting the iMac, I have used TechTool Pro to repair the disk,
use the hardware testing disk and found no errors, but it ...

Keyboard shortcuts for dialog boxes21 Nov 2006 16:13 GMT6
When I go to shutdown my son's computer at the end of the day, I often get a
dialog box asking for administrator's password because his sister's account
is still active. I type my username and password, hit return, the dialog box
disappears and I wander off.

Elgato EyeTV - which model to buy?21 Nov 2006 11:57 GMT15
I'm thinking of buying an Elgato EyeTV for use on UK Freeview, for my
PB G4 17" 1.33GHz, OS X 10.4.8.
I'm a bit confused about the relative merits of the various models.
ISTR reading somewhere that the EyeTV Hybrid is better than the others
MacBook Pro sleeping problems21 Nov 2006 10:12 GMT22
One of the things I've always loved about Mac laptops (that was always
flakey on Windows) was the fact that you close them, they go to sleep, you
open them they work. My old iBook, PowerBook and (until recently) MacBook
Pro always worked fine in this fashion. It's a Core duo one, ...
