Panther or Tiger?25 Nov 2006 12:32 GMT1
I know that Panther was/is nippier on G3 architecture than Jaguar, but would
Tiger be an improvement (from Panther) on my aged (1st Gen with that darned
66MHz bus), G3 iBook?

USB Midi Audio interface25 Nov 2006 10:54 GMT1
I'd like a gadget that allows me to connect a Midi keyboard (it just has
midi out, an old Roland model) to my Intel iMac.
While I'm at it it'd be good if it allowed high quality analogue-digital
recording - I copy LPs to the computer from time to time.

See, your hero agrees with me! (Working Lunch today (BBC2 12:30) full

So I'll carry on in his footsteps, building my own PC's! ;-)
All the best ..
24" iMac Packaging Dimensions?24 Nov 2006 23:41 GMT69
Bit of a longshot but does anyone happen to have the shipping dimensions
of the 24" iMac?
I could get one mail order which means I save a bit via student
discount, or I could go pick one up from John Lewis and pay full price

Woz on tv24 Nov 2006 23:27 GMT1
Woz was interviewed on Working Lunch on BBC2 lunchtime today (Fri).
Most interesting, it's not often he gives tv interviews.
Short piece of film of early Macs being assembled on the production
line too.
ChronoSync - bloody annoying behaviour!24 Nov 2006 21:39 GMT2
I investigated ChronoSync, and downloaded the trial. Apparently the
mere act of clicking it resulted in a thingumajig being placed in my
"task bar", with no option to remove it. Bloody annoying!
Anyone know how to get rid of the thing?
Decoding a mime attachment24 Nov 2006 21:07 GMT20
When a work colleague sends me an e-mailed attachment from his PC to my
Mac (eg an Excel file) it sometimes (bizarely not always) arrives as a
mime-attachment and is unreadable. Usually if he send the file again,
it's OK although he insists he does nothing differently.
De-click digital audio24 Nov 2006 21:07 GMT1
I have an AIFF (a short sample) that is marred by some bad digital
editing. Is there a program that will smooth out the clicks in it
automatically (i.e. where the waveform makes huge jumps from one value
to another)?

What do you reckon? I'm betting someone's just rediscovered the known
issue about InputManagers.
M$ Entrouage keeps disappearing24 Nov 2006 20:26 GMT2
This is a new iMac (Intel Core 2 duo) with a new Office 2004 installed.
For the second time now, on launching Entourage it shows the Set-up
assistant and a brand new Entourage as if it had never been used. All
preveious emails, addresses, notes etc appear to have been lost. There
New printers for OS9?24 Nov 2006 19:04 GMT6
Hi all -
Is anyone aware of any inkjet printer currently available (new) that has
OS9 drivers? A very technophobic artist friend who is still on OS9, has
an Epson that has completely died and reluctant to make the switch to OS
