Long FW400 cables...07 Nov 2006 09:43 GMT9
I need a long FireWire 400 cable to connect an MAudio FW410 interface
to a Mac. A 5M cable would do but 6M would be even better. Also need a
USB2 cable the same length. Anyone know where to order these?

iMovie and iDVD - different versions?07 Nov 2006 07:42 GMT3
I am a bit confused about various versions of iMovie and iDVD that seem
to exist, can someone confirm the following or correct me?
It looks like Apple developed these and supplied them free up to some
version (3.0.3?), and that version is what you get when you buy a new
Tiger - attributes inspector07 Nov 2006 07:40 GMT2
I just discovered (old news to some, I'm sure) that Cmd-I in the Finder
gives you an info window, as expected, but Cmd-Opt-I gives you an
"attributes inspector" which updates to reflect whatever file you click
on. Cool.
Warranty vs Warrantee - is the fight lost?07 Nov 2006 07:38 GMT66
Dictionary.app says "USAGE Warrantee means 'person to whom a warranty is
made'; it is not a spelling variant of warranty."

Check definition 3. Then cry.
Dead hard drive and AppleCare Q07 Nov 2006 06:56 GMT9
Howdy all,
The HD in my MacBook has just gone non-shiny (well, it's making a
tick-tick-tick sound and the screen stays grey on boot). It's still in
warranty, so a call to Apple should get me a new one -- but what about
Silly question - is there something like Launch Bar for a PC?07 Nov 2006 00:06 GMT4
I know I should ask on a PC group, but they'd just say "what's Launch
Bar?". Maybe someone else who, like me, is required to work with
PeeSees happens to know the answer ... ?
Thanks!!

Gap in range?06 Nov 2006 21:31 GMT91
Is it just me, or do others think there is a gap in the Mac range - no mid-

Copying a folder with insufficient permissions06 Nov 2006 21:22 GMT5
With Eudora, my wife can run her email from the house computer simply by
mounting the office computer hard disk, and opening her Eudora folder
and double-clicking her Eudora settings file.
Now she's switched over to Mail.app, it's not obvious to me how she can
iChat problems06 Nov 2006 21:16 GMT1
I am having just no end of problems with ichat, ports forwarded as

Still cant start video or audio chat when BOTH users are behind NAT.
I did a packet scan and I discovered that my ichat is attempting to
Query for the Aperture users06 Nov 2006 18:15 GMT28
I know that Aperture's real strength lies in its ability to handle RAW
files but wondered how well it copes with conventional photography i.e.
scanned media.
As I will be moving to hardware that can handle Aperture, I will give
Aperture Trial06 Nov 2006 18:13 GMT-
Installed it, tried it, loved it. I did a test run with a commissioned
shoot of some Devon Rex cats for friends of ours. It was a great way to
cut my teeth on it - having a defined project with similar images and a
deadline. Although i am a hobbyist, Aperture is an ideal and ...
